### Giveaway Guidelines
### Why?
Giveaways are very important to the city. They are the heart and soul of the city, what attracts people here. It's what the city is built on. So in short, giveaways are pretty important, and should be handled responsibly.
Also since I do reward giveaways, I have to make sure the giveaways are worth rewarding.
### 40 cents rule
A proper giveaway should give at least 40 cents worth of something.
### Giveaways should go to #the_giveaway_channel most of the time
Usually giveaways should be in #the_giveaway_channel. This prevents new people or punished people from accessing them. I could allow some exceptions, like a splinterlands giveaway might show up in #splinterlands-chat, but 99% of the time they should go to #the_giveaway_channel
### When in doubt, keep it simple
A giveaway that simply gives anyone who clicks on it a chance is fine.
### Good giveaway ideas:
### A good giveaway should reasonably target a group of possible people (not just to one or two people)
* Helping Neoxian city. This could be neoxag burning, either who burns the most, or a number guessing game. Or people with city jobs, or for the paper or guild. You should target a group of people 4 or more.
* Helping Hive. Rewarding people who posted a good post lately or who powered up recently.
### A bad giveaway is when you clearly targeting only one or two people.
* Just give them something privately. Using a giveaway like this clearly cheating the system.
### Bad giveaways:
* Only to females, or only to Nigerians. Targeting a gender, nationality, religion, please don't do that.
* Giveaways to people with "T" in their name or similar. This is arbitrary and bad. Please don't do it.
* I can't possibly list every bad example here. Use common sense. Giveaways should be respectful and not insulting.
* Do not give Ecency points as a reward.
* A reward should be real tradable tokens or items where the value is easily known.
### A giveaway is like a contract. A giver must give what is promised.
* Be careful when wording the giveaway. A giveaway is a promise to give something and you must give it, even if you don't like the person.
### Giveaways should be simple and clear and easy to understand.
* If the language of your giveaway is vague and ambigious and open to interpretation, it isn't a good giveaway. Please be clear.
