## OSC Response
### Message
Hi Marc,
Thank you for your application to Open Source Collective. In order to approve your application, we need a guarantee that NeoForged Foundation does not and will not provide direct access to copyrighted material without the express permission of the copyright holder. Note that this does not stop you from building and maintaining tooling that provides access to resources that are user inputted into the application.
Note that this communication, and your response, is public and will form a part of a binding agreement should your project be in contravention to this guarantee.
Thanks, Grace Powers — Operations Coordinator, Open Source Collective 501c6

Hello Grace,
It is indeed correct that we do not provide direct access to copyrighted material, and as far as we are concerned we never will have the need to do so.
We operate within the limits of the [Minecraft EULA](https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/eula). See the section "Using Mods" inside of it. We do not distribute modded versions of the game ourselves. The user has to explicitly create a modded version of the game themselves, in accordance with the EULA. We provide the tools to do so, and the user needs to explicitly input the right values, run the right commands and have the required original binaries to generate the output they desire, again as per EULA. Examples of these in production are our need for the user to supply their own minecraft installation sources when using our installer. All metadata and files our tools need are publicly provided by Mojang through their public APIs and services.
Any violation of this EULA is treated as problematic within our community, and when discovered we will remove people from the community if need be.
We are in direct contact with Mojang (The developers and the legal copyright holders), and address all upcoming issues in cooperation with them.
With this I hope to have clarified our situation to you and provded the required guarantee.
Greets,
Marc
