## Memetic Mediation: The key to scalable reputational currencies
Memetic Bridges allow people to show up in a new ecosystem, network or community with reputation data that they have earned elsewhere. The simplest form of establishing a bridge is a community to ‘proposing’ a bridge, and the holder of the reputation ‘consenting’ (see diagram below). There are nuances to the ‘quality of the bridge’ which will be discussed at a later point.
This process of building broad-spectrum bridges between communities that foster collaborative patterns between them is termed 'Memetic Mediation'

## Simplistic Overview of Memetic Bridge Establishment

Establishing a basic Memetic Bridge of this kinds allows us to 'import' reputation data from another context. The nuances to this bridging will be discussed in a specific technical document, but for now here are some general guidelines to bridging in Holochain environments:
- Avoid bridging during validation rules. It is not certain that all other nodes on the DHT will have the DNA installed, so it could lead to serious validation issues.
- Fraudulent validation in another DNA can be identified by building the 'strength of the bridge' over time. In other words, when more nodes bridge across DNAs, the possibilities of warrants getting identified improve.
- Reputation data that is gained through bridging should ideally be stored as an entry.
## Memetic Bridges allow us to 'borrow' culture from other contexts
This allows us to amplify specific behaviour within our own communities. Here are some simplistic examples of what can be achieved with this kind of porting. Click the links to view the modelling of these cases:
- Journalist network importing from other trusted reporting eco-systems in order to broaden the pool of writers, while still maintaining control over quality. (community of memers, or citizen journalists) Borrowing culture to spark a new thing: Scientists community. OR academics.
- Ride share network ensuring 'safety' of drivers without having to operate at scale (safety flag in a bunch of other, related communities)
- Wellness community developing a multi-dimensional framework for 'health' that makes it harder to game
- Social-triangulation network that accepts 'vouches' across multiple contexts. Which means members can enter a group without having to wait for existing members to vouch for them
- Credit limits for ride-share drivers based on their ride volume across multiple networks. (credit limits for entrepreneurs)
These are a few basic simulations run by @EuRK-JC-SEmD1HkDtmuqow to highlight through bridges. We will cover more nuances of bridging and issues involved in this cultural porting (like Dilution, Echo-effects, Hacking etc.) in subsequent posts.
