# Welcome
(this text should be merged into https://forum.holochain.org/t/about-devcamp7/3504 post)
Welcome to the Holochain devcamp7! Our team of organizers is excited to see you all here.
In the next 6 weeks we'll be learning more about things needed to develop distributed applications on Holochain (hApps for short). This post is here to help you navigate the devcamp structure.
There are 2 things that we want you to keep in mind during the devcamp:
1. This event is organised by members in the spirit of contribution to the community. Members who volunteer to run the Devcamp are often juggling these efforts alongside their primary projects (some of which are on Holochain). So while we're doing our best, there may be occasions where we don't entirely have the answer to your questions. In such situations, we will loop back to the HC core team for an answer.
2. Approach that we will be presenting to you during the devcamp isn't a single possible true approach. This is just something that works well for us, so feel free to explore and find something that works for you.
## sessions
### when
All sessions start at 13:30 UTC on Tue and Thu and take 1.5 hours.
First session is on the 28th of July and last session will be on the 3rd of September.
### where
Zoom room at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85251145742?pwd=NXRKQUR3Nm03d1NEeTY1T0tOeFFZQT09
### how
After every session we'll be posting the recordings in this group.
Every session will have a short 5 minute break in the middle (which won't be recorded), so that you don't forget to stretch and hydrate properly!
We encourage you to share your video with us during the sessions. It's really nice to see people's faces from all over the world and we use video to gather real-time feedback from the participants. If you're not comfortable sharing your video you'll be able to share your feedback in the chat.

## asking questions
There are multiple ways for you to ask your question:
1. we will be allocating some time during each of the sessions for the Q&A;
2. we'll be taking in questions asked in the chat during the sessions;
3. you can post your questions in this group. This would also allow you to have an asynchronous discussion with all devcamp participants.
Also, if you see other participants asking a question that you know an answer to, we encourage you to help them and solidify your own knowledge by explaining it to other people.
## where to go from here
You can introduce yourself and meet other participants here: https://forum.holochain.org/t/introduce-yourself/3564/24
To prepare your computer for the development process check out our environment configuration guide here: https://forum.holochain.org/t/environment-configuration/3655/2
If you're new to Rust, we've prepared an intro here: https://forum.holochain.org/t/rust-intro/3667/2 We will have a session covering this information too, but Rust has a lot to learn so having some preparation will ease things for you.
And there's also a small number of tips for using Bash shell here: https://forum.holochain.org/t/bash-shell-tips/3668/2
