# Asteroids asteroids and more asteroids ## Abstract The core concept of these changes is to allow a diverse array of asteroids to be found in frontier. To allow some of these concepts to truly work, various changes would be needed to be done to the core of mining beforehand. This should hopefully increase diversity for playing miner. ## Goals 1. Have each asteroid be fun and unique! Each one should stand out visually and mechanically from each other. 2. Give some asteroids rewards outside of things that can be used in a manufacturer, such as some asteroids being loot crate rich. 3. Have the rewards of an asteroid be tied to how difficult an asteroid is ## Non Goals 1. Significantly effect the amount of ores mining gets, ores can already fill up quickly and that should be avoided. 2. The rewards shouldn't help miners predominantly, they should instead help the station ## Pre Asteroids Content This is all the framework that would help a lot with allowing these asteroid types to shine. This does not neccisarily need to come before introducing more asteroid types, but due to it being easier to implement and good in general it likely will. Most of this stuff will be qol focused. 1. Mining charge expansion. A directed charge thats stronger then the heavy one but covers less area would be good for breaching through especially hard terrain. A mining charge pouch (maybe have a 5 slot and a ten slot variant) that can only carry mining charges would be good. 2. Make destroying asteroid walls health based instead of rng based. If the dig strength is greater then the wall health it will insta destroy, if not then mining the wall follows combat cooldown. 3. Make pickaxes show percent charge 4. Some type of auto mining scanner similar to tg. 5. Allow ore scoops to work in your pocket. 6. Allow rockbox to store materials + allow material bars to be in tenths, this will be good for rock types that have mat amounts in the tenths. 7. Make satchel capacity based on the mat amount instead of the amount of items. Once again good for rock types. 8. Allow ore veins to be different shapes based on ore? This one is probably not worth the effort. 9. Geysers that spew out chemicals/gases. These would stop spewing when overpressured. 10. Allow make asteroids to support the generation of multiple asteroid types.. duh 11. Add a long range mechcomp teleporter to engineering fab that can teleport to debris and asteroid belt. ## Asteroid Content This is for all the specific asteroid types. Most of these will be focused around a single ore type. Around 60% of asteroids should be the type we already have. 1. Fossil fuel asteroid. This asteroid would be char rich with oil geysers. Maybe contains some kind of super coal thats a good fuel (Possibly have it contain reagents as well?? Graphene?). Should be diamond rich as well. Minor amounts of mauxite and quartz (just seems fitting). Space ants?? Bones? 2. Comet asteroid, these ones are all ice. Contains cobryl alongside ammonia ices. Contains high pressure tiles of liquids (such as sulfuric acid). Geyser rich. Precursor artifact rich. 3. Interstellar comet asteroid, contains ices similar to comet asteroid but also some nice metals. The twist here is that all the walls are coated in a fog, preventing you from using mesons and mining scanner (meaning you have to strip mine it). This also has a small chance of containing a starstone. Probably will be oval. Saltpeter ice? 4. Viscerite asteroid, these asteroids will be on the rarer side of things. A destroyed wall will repair itself with time, if youre on the same tile on the wall you will take damage. Contains viscerite of course, and clarentine (and maybe some new cool ore??). Synthflesh geyser, also make this thing very porous. Pharosium as well 5. Atmos asteroid containing molitz. High pressure gas tiles with gas geysers (these gas tiles would be of varying tempatures). Contains molitz beta as well of course. Would benefit with spacewind 6. Radioactive asteroid with radioactive tiles, cerenkite and erebite rich with lots of explosive tiles. This one could contain starstone as well? 7. Some type of gold asteroid maybe??? Dont know what the gimmick here would be. Maybe make it booby trapped? 8. Uqill asteroid that has uqill tiles with like .1 uqill per rock. Contains plasmastone and some telecrystal. (idea is its from a uqill tendril inside of typhon). Should be rare. Maybe starstone for this one as well? 9. Meat asteroid thats rich in telecrystal. Similar to viscerite asteroid. Blood geysers. Telecrstal tiles that teleport you? Should be rare. 10. Metal asteroid with harder tiles, bohrum rich with mauxite as well and pharosium as well. 11. Geode crystal with miraculium crystals + gems galore. 12. Already mined asteroid, straight veins + a mean rude mining drone. This one should be rare. 13. Asteroid for nanites, should be rich in siliconian artifacts.
