# Human Rights (Gender Identity Protection) Amendment Bill

## 1. Title

This act is the Human Rights (Gender Identity Protection) Amendment Act 2019.

## 2. Commencement

This Act comes into force on the day after the date it receives Royal Assent.

## 3. Purpose

The purpose of this act is to formally incorporate gender identity protections into the Human Rights Act.

## 4. Amendment

In the Human Rights Act 1993, amend Section 21 (1a) to read the following-

> (a) sex, which includes pregnancy and childbirth, and all forms of gender identity:
