--- title: Mystic Whales Futures Meeting Notes tags: futures, Internal --- ## Mystic Whales Futures Meeting Notes > Every Tuesday ### **31-01** **Areas for improvement** - Miscommunication with Rigor (i.e. fundraising first, community later) -> New approach (Community first, fundraising later) - Adherence to our service offering / approach - If we see something, say something - Project Managers working solely as Project Managers across all projects for clarity of ownership Will will be taking some time off from Mystic Whales to focus on MetaFactory for the next 1.5 months [**DAO structuring & compensation**](https://hackmd.io/@mysticwhales/SkFCs7cwF) - DAO on Gnosis Chain (with cross-chain minion) & set up for security > speed - Rage Quit & Guild Kick as safeguards for entry to Mystic Whales - (1) Flexible Model: Any member can earn shares that are distributed via Coordinape per epoch (project/month) - Contributors can be paid in stables or shares of the DAO - (2) Static Model: All have equal shares. New members are paid in stables and work till they hit a partnership level of shares - Might create hierarchy within the DAO members - Binary right to own shares in the DAO - Hybrid: Allow prospective members to accumulate points via Coordinape till they hit a threshold & get partner status in the DAO - Are we planning to bring on more contributors or is it just going to be a small group? Seems like it'll be a smaller group - Revenue backing of shares - DAO members will think about the structure and revert on our next call ### **25-01** **Most Functional DAO Interview ETHdenver** - Case study interview IRL. - **Questions:** - What does your DAO do, elevator pitch ? - What are the contributor persona's, who is active, who is lurking, how do you activate people ? - How is treasury managed ? - How does the community interact with the treasury ? - How does your DAO governance itelf, what are the tools that you use to empower members to make proposals ? - Why do you choose to operate as a DAO? - On a scale of 1-10 how Decentralized are you? - On a scale of 1-10 how Autonomous are you? - On a scale of 1-10 how Organized are you? - How do your members onboard to your DAO? - How does the future of the DAO look? How long do you expect it to last? - ~maybe~ What is your DAO's legal structure like? - How are your members compensated? - What does your first "Win" look like for your DAO - How do different teams work together (subDAOs/workstreams)? **Top DAO's** - Gitcoin / Disruption Joe - Index Coop / Punia - Raid Guild / Tae, Scottpreneuer - YGG/Indi.GG/gaming DAOs - DAOhaus HAUSDao - MetaPod x Mystic Whales: MetaPod as a pipeline for Mystic Whales clients - How do we want to start DAO research? - What are the most valuable insights we can extract from successful DAOs? Some buckets of information, e.g.: - Governance structure (Setup) - Sub-DAOs / Workstreams - Treasury & Ownership - Culture - Compensation - Culture & DAO development is our product, but research is a way to generate leads & branding (public goods) - Start with Yalor > Collect data > Extract insights > Publish reports - DAO research as a way to do better branding - Is this internal or external-facing? External knowledge-base - Collecting & writing the data will gradually make us the DAO experts - Create a timeline to have some MVP product deliverables for DAO research - Maybe we do this physically at ETH-Denver ### **18-01** - Mystic Whales started with tokenomics & fundraising (but with a hedge-fund treasury strategy). Now transition seems to be moving towards community design - How do we quantify our success? We should have a notion of success that is easily understood - Churn rates/retention - Requests seem to be: - Setting up the DAO - Onboarding the DAO - Raising funds for the DAO - Consistent faces in an early-stage community that establishes the processes. Typically something that takes couple of months - Redefining personas (scale, nature, size) - Different types of DAOs will have different setup & onboarding needs - Start with some internal research on different DAO structures, so we can start understanding the landscape & eventually provide implementation services *What is our offerings?* 1) Setting up a community + DAO onboarding * Mystic Whales Acting as organizational pillars while community forms 2) Handing off community to new DAO community leaders 3) Establishing up an organizational structure (rules logic) for DAO members to operate * Some type of constitutional document 4) ??Some amount of engagement?? ### **13-01** - Moving forward, we need to streamline: - Services that we offer to clients - Internal operations structure - The transition period should commence after we wrap up current projects (Dystopia, Rigor, Rara) - Community building seems to be a path we can consider, given our background, connections and inbound client interests. - 1kx as potential source of demand - Next Steps - [ ] Create an internal 'SOP' document, so we have general offerings that are customisable for clients
