# Banned and Limited Quirks Some abilities of the My Hero Acaedmia world are extremely overpowered, and would break RP for a lot of people. In our server, some Quirks are **banned** and others are **limited**. # Banned Quirks There Quirks are outright banned and cannot be used on any character. ### All For One and One For All All For One is simply too powerful, it is without contest the single best Quirk in the world by definition as it potentially encompasses every other Quirk. Same reasoning with One For All, only Deku is allowed to have that, and he has a story limitation on it (his body's weakness). ### High Spec, IQ High Spec is simply insane, and I cannot think of any way it could be used correctly for RP. It's insane in any situation - social, military, in general politics, it can simply justify anything, and would instantly make anything excusable. It is for all intents and purposes a constant and limitless version of a premonition Quirk, without any drawbacks. IQ is basically the same. ### Limitless Teleportation This is one that basically instantly destroys the world & any tension and wouldn't have much interest to RP as as far as I can tell. Being able to get in and out of any place really is insanely powerful in basically every RP scenario that involves the least bit of conflict. ### Dual Quirks Dual Quirks are off-limits on My Ero Academia. Dual quirks are *extremely* rare, basically the only example being Todoroki, who is *designed* to be an overpowered character. Dual (or triple, quadruple...) Quirks in OCs are pretty much always the sign of a poorly thought-out OC where someone tried to cram multiple unrelated abilities into one character. We are not interested in characters like that, and they are also extremely hard to balance generally as a character's potential goes up exponentially with how many abilities they have access to. This doesn't mean characters can't *do multiple things*, but those things should be unified under a single Quirk that is thematically consistent, for example, Tsuyu can jump high & have a super long tongue, both of which make sense with her frog Quirk. # Limited Quirks Limited Quirks are Quirks you can apply for *if* you've shown yourself to be a responsible roleplayer who won't abuse their powers to ruin the fun for everyone else. The decision is made **by the staff** on a case-by-case basis, and the staff reserves the right to discuss with you to modify your Quirk before approving it (and afterward if that becomes necessary). The staff also reserves the right to just ban your character if you abuse the trust we put in you and ruin the fun for other people. The purpose here is to provide a way to play around with fun Quirks for roleplay, drama and character reasons without having you go around killing everyone or healing every wounded in the universe. We may also allow powers that fall within these categories if they're extremely limited in scope. Again, it's up to the staff, and while you may argue your case, at the end of the day it is our decision. ### Anything time-related Time manipulation is a mess, and time-related Quirks are inherently hard to RP. They are *generally* extremely overpowered if the user can affect the outcome, and can be extremely problematic to RP with even if they can't. However, within the right context, time powers can push a character to have an interesting perspective or philosophy on the world and can sometimes experience tragedy in ways no other people can (cf. Nighteye). For that reason, we'll allow some time-based characters as long as they are used by good RPers who won't abuse their time powers and will use them to drive the story forward for everyone responsibly. ### Immortality, Resurrection, Extreme Healing Everything and everyone must die, otherwise stakes are completely deflated. Immortality, as in the inability to die in any way, completely ruins the tension of any situation. However, when used right, and with the *proper limits*, they can make for amazing character and story ideas. A great example of this is Higher Vampires in the Witcher universe, who are literally impossible to kill...except by one of their own. This has interesting dramatic and political consequences for all vampires and affects their psyche and how they behave. For that reason, these Quirks will be examined, but we may ask you to put some serious limitations on them. ### Character-Specific These skills are insanely powerful, but they will be allowed *for their respective characters* under the same conditions as the ones outlined for Quirks (that is to say, a good RPer who won't abuse it but use it for narrative purposes): - Overhaul (Overhaul) ### Any generally extremely OP Quirk This is a catch-all category, and that's because sometimes one of you will get extremely creative and interesting with a Quirk...but still make it too powerful. We might then allow it on the conditions cited above, that it's a good RPer who will be respectful with their narrative power.
