# nym-dev incentives proposal ### Overview This is a proposal for the first minimal iteration of a developer incentives program. We want to (in a somewhat ad hoc / DIY way) fund developers with Bitcoin for creating applications on top of the current Nym testnet, with a view to then have usable initial apps ready soon after mainnet. These apps will also be publicly displayed in the docs, and anywhere else we want to list them. There are a couple of people already working on applications, we will reach out to them personally and see if they want to take part. ### What we provide - Token incentive in the form of BTC - Dev support / office hours after mainnet (?) - Feedback on the apps - Public list of completed apps in Nym docs / anywhere else ### Where it will take place We are going to do this ourselves initially, although somehting like GitCoin is definitely something to investigate in the future if this initial test is successful. We propose communication be done initially just via existing platforms - i.e. creating `hackathon` channels in telegram and keybase, as well as an info page for the website. ### List of example or proposed projects (can also get in touch with suggestions) _if multiple people want to hack on the same idea maybe we can put them in touch / show that someone is already working on an implementation. This is not to disincentivise people from working on anything, just to nudge it so we don't have 3 iterations of the same thing and waste people's time_ - List of proposals from Nym - [ grab dave's list from keybase] - any others we think of - Already existing POCs / WIPs in the Nym-hackathon GH - [ grab list from there] ### unanswered questions - do we need a deadline? is it more like a hackathon or just incentivised development? we can probably set a loose deadline for 'soon after mainnet'? - how much BTC / how do we set a price on projects? Perhaps we set a variable price for each of our proposed projects, and if they want to propose something they also propose a BTC cost. - who from the team do we need to manage this? How much work is this going to be?
