# Quadratic funding
The main idea is this quadratic voting/funding stuff where you take the square root of how much each person gave, sum that, then square it to decide how much of a matching contribution to given. It has been being used in this Gitcoin platform, which is mostly funded by Consensus it seems: https://gitcoin.co/blog/everything-you-need-to-know-about-gitcoin/
A Vitalik post describing quadratic funding is here:

Vitalik wrote about the last 3 rounds of this funding, they’ve been making tweaks and the results are extremely promising:

The idea of quadratic funding came from quadratic voting which was presented in this book I had read a while back, radicle markets, it was very cool to learn they had ran so much with it:
https://vitalik.ca/general/2018/04/20/radical_markets.html
In september 2018 vitalik, one of the book authors, and another person put out a preprint describing their ideas for quadratic funding, which I havent finished reading but is very interestingly written:

Aditionally there's a ton of stuff on the Ethereum research forums (https://ethresear.ch/) , I only saw a few posts that Vitalik linked from his articles.
Anyway when I read the radical markets book I found it veyr stimulating, and now that I see all teh developments that have happened in the short span of..18 months, I kind of want to get up to speed and see if I can think of improvements or otehr applications. Etehreum foundation is attacking the "coordination problem" which is basically the most pernicious issue that holds humankind back since ever, due to human nature. Makes me think about possibilities for what to do after grad school, if I could get a post doc-ish salary going around the world thinking things and doing things for them, I'd seriously consider it...
