## Initial project impressions
To approach our ‘Games Production Pipeline’ project, we were first tasked with proposing small ‘HCP’. My HCP was initially to create a game that was heavily inspired by the art installation ‘Sweet Sweet Galaxy’ by Australian artists Tanya Schultz and Nicole Andrijevic, also known as ‘Pip and Pop’. Sweet sweet galaxy is a unique installation depicting an infinite psychedelic landscape. An amalgamation of numerous materials including coloured sugar, fine sand, cake decorations, origami, found objects, LED lights and sound create a mystical world that I feel would reflect really well in an open world game, using cell shading, in a similar style to ‘Zelda: Breath of the wild’ and ‘Calico’.

After voting on other people’s HCP’s, I decided to join the group with the concept ‘Love Shock’ although it was nameless when I initially joined. The concept on ‘Love shock’ was a cheesy, art-based point and click dating simulator game that uses kitchen appliances instead of the typical characters seen in the genre. I thought this could be a really interesting game to work on as I felt that it was unique, and also in our skillset to provide assets for.

## Production Log
## Entry 1
* Date 8/11/22
* hours: 2
* Outcome: Market research
#### Notes
* The genre originated in Japan(1)
* J.clement states that 'In 2020, the number of people who played video games worldwide stood at 2.69 billion and it is estimated that this number will have surpassed 3 billion by 2023'(2)
* Dream Daddy was incredibly well-received, being praised for its take on the dating simulator genre: ‘Dream Daddy is a clever, good-hearted game that treats its characters with respect.(3)

#### Screencap from 'Dream Daddy'
* Stylistically, most dating simulators have assets like detailed backgrounds and expressive character art, with minimal animation. Typically, information on the plot and story is shown in a text box.
* In a study conducted by Nielsen Games in 2020 (4), they found that a large population of gamers were part of the lgbtq+ community, meaning there is an entire demographic that is almost completely ignored when it comes to game development. There is very little diversity when it comes to sexuality of characters in games and it may prove a good idea to include characters of different backgrounds and sexualities in our game, not only as a positive move for inclusivity in general, but also as a financial move if we can provide for a gap in the market

## Entry 2
* Date: 15/11/22
* hours: 2
* Outcomes: reference bash and inspirations
#### Notes

To help the group begin the art, Holly and I worked together to create reference boards that could be assigned to each character and to each person in the team.
We wanted to play on the idea of overly cheesy, stereotypical characters that are almost meant to parody the typical archetypes seen in most dating simulators. The dialog is also meant to be ironic and full of silly puns based on what appliance they are meant to portray.

## Entry 3
* Date: 22/11/22
* Hours: 2
* Outcomes: Rough concept sketches
#### Notes

#### Rough ideas for the background

### Dishwasher inital sketch
As the game is entirely 2D concept art based, everbody on the team was developing separate concept art for each character which made it very hard to follow. I did some initial sketches, before deciding I would be of better use on the UI and logo side of the designing, as well as research and marketing.

## Entry 4
* date: 1/12/22
* Hours: 2
* Outcomes: Sketch and inspiration for logo
#### Notes
This session I tried to find inspiration for our UI and logo design that fit the game's theme. Using fontspace(5) I was able to type in 'Love Shock' and come out with generated fonts that I could choose to use in our logo.

I didn't find any of these useful outside of inspiration, so I ended up downloading one from the same website, however this file was for personal use only, so I used it as a guideline for creating my own logo illustration

## Entry 5
* Date: 9/12/22
* Hours: 2
* Outcomes: Final logo design
#### Notes

#### final design on the logo
In the final logo design it was important to me that I kept it light and cute, and to use pink. I added hands hugging the letters together to tie it into the game and I thought the excessive addition of hearts in the design played into the cheesy 'love' aspect. While copyright wasn't something we required, I thought it could play into the ironic parody theme if I placed it strategically.
## Entry 6
* Date: 15/12/2022
* Hours: 2
* Outcome: Basic character sheet including logo
#### Notes
As my group worked on the concept art, I looked at making a basic character sheet that could include the logo.
