I'm super surprised because many Taiwanese can speake two languages Taiwanese and Chinese, but they still suffer from dementia as they get older. ### Are the majority of people in your country bilingual? If Taiwanese count**s**, the answer would be yes. But in these years, the population speaking both Taiwanese and Chinese seems **to have decreased** rapidly, the younger generation almost can't speak Taiwanese. ### Did you study any foreign languages in school? Yes I did, I had started my English ~~studied~~ **studies** in kindergarten but stopped after **I** graduated from high~~t~~ school. I still remember my first English teacher in kindergarten she came form Myanmar. **after graduating from high school.** ### Do you think kids should be required to learn a second language in school? Yes, totally agree. Language is a tool, not a subject, this is what I've learned **during** ~~in~~ these years. The world is broad, with a second language, I can view **it** broader. ### Would you have any interest in learning Spanish? I had tried to learn Spanish when I was in high school, but after attending three classes I gave up. There're ~~many~~ **more** ~~alphabets~~ **accented letters** and complicated rules in Spanish. ## Further Discussion ### Why did you decide to start learning English? My mom decided that for me when I was younger. But these days I decided it ~~by~~ **for** myself. I had once ~~to~~ attend**ed** a project cooperated with France. We had a translator she could speak English, Chinese and French, but the French **group** still spoke English although~~t~~ with a strong accent, **because of that** I decided to learn **English** ~~with them~~ from that day **on**. **Being** Familiar with English I can gain ~~other~~ information~~s~~ more correctly and quickly, travel to other countries ~~more~~ **to konw them** ~~deeper~~ **better** and ~~farer~~ **further**. ### How often do you get a chance to speak English in your day-to-day life? I have a friend ~~she~~ **who** came from Vietnam and used to live in Taiwan when we studied ~~in~~ **at** University. She couldn't speak Chinese fluently, but **was** good at English. We communicated in English as we could at that time. But now without Cambly, it is hardly ~~to~~ **that I** get a chance to speak English in my current life. ### In your opinion, what's the best thing about being bilingual? In my opinion people who ~~is~~ **are** bilingual might have a ~~heighter~~ **better** chance to ~~accept diffences~~ **be more open minded**. ### Do you know anyone who's multilingual? Yes, my younger sister. She can speak Chinese, English and Japanese. I hope I can be multilingual someday. ### Anyone who keeps learning stays young. — Henry Ford. What do you make of this statement? This is really important. Many researchs results have postive connection**s** with this statement. ~~Except~~ **Besides** (As well as) languages, there're many other choices to learn, I wish I ~~can~~ **could** keep learning ~~in~~ my whole life. ### Q: If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, every day would be Christmas. => make excauses not to do it candy (American) sweets (British)
