After I finished my bachelor’s degree, I participated in Mobile App development courses in UCOM. In the first class, teacher asked me "Why are you here? I think you're in the wrong classroom." ."I am curious about programming and I think I can learn it." I answered him. Actually, when I was in senior heigh school, I joined the programming club; when I was in junior heigh school, I represented for school to take part in area science competition and Olympia math’s competition. I am curious about everything and I love learning. These're the reasons that I thought I can make it, and finally I did it, I was the only student developed both iOS and Android platform. During the 4-years experiences at the previous company, I learned that the improvement of one’s abilities might influence others because my behavior shows a motivated and influential person. Although that brings benefits but its small. I realized that if I can improve the working process and change the culture of the team, these would bring huge benefits not only for the team but also for the company. So that I focused on system analysis at first, I took part in the ORACLE’s course OOAD and brought other colleagues into that course then I built a stable process of development. In order to learn project management, I took project management course then got the certification of PMP. I hope I can grow with the company. Note: 1. In my spare time I am writing a novel, this shows that I am creative, imaginative and focused. 2. Take what cousres show personality. ### 2. Introduce yourself (asked) (My name is Belinda. I am curious about everything and I love learning. These're the reasons that I thought I can make it, and finally I did it, I was the only student developed both iOS and Android platform.) From a progmmer to a technical supervisor, During the 4-years experiences at the previous company, I learned that the improvement of one’s abilities might influence others because my behavior shows a motivated and influential person. This process successfully transformed the original maintenance project from a loss to a project that can bring 30% of the company's turnover. In order to learn project management, I took project management course then got the certification of PMP. I hope I can grow with the company. I love communicating and collaborating with clients and teams, I put myself in their shoes, analyzing what's the most valuable for them. I have once customer asked us to finish the app development 28% earlier. I initiate to assist clients to complete their tasks and discuss the priority of features and the acceptable demonstration with clients. The original demand for compressing timescale was 28%, finally it's 14%. ## Q 2: Reasons You Want this Job ### Why are you interested in this position/job? ### Why are you interested in working at this company? #### AI/Data Last year, HiTrust planned to organize an in-house AI team. And I was the coordinator between app team and AI team. At that experience, I found that I'm interested in that the AI technology combine we others. AI is booming, so does data Intelligence. Many industries need data to analyze customer behavior, bringing better service. This might a huge improvement of user experience, user behavior and humen life. I'm really interested in this. #### Products Because you are developing many kinds of products, I saw except cloud service , there are such as VR, IOT, Smart device combine with health care and more, that's exciting. ## Q 3: Your Job History ### Why did you leave your last company/position? (Why are you leaving your current company/position) In my past job, I often faced with same or familiar projects, I felt it was becoming stale. So I'm seeking different challenge to experience and grow. They didn't research AI. ## Q 4: What Makes You the Best Choice ### Why would you be the right choice for this position? ### What makes you the best candidate for this position/this job? ### Why should we hire you? **Honestly, so far I've no any hands-on experience in Cloud Computing, but I learned the fundamental knowledge of AI, Data Science and Cloud Computing on Coursera in these months.** And in the past 4 year, I built strong trust relationship with clients and team. I put myself in their shoes, carefully listening what they care about and worry about. And initiate to assist them as they need. In my opinion, the most important thing in project management is communication. This is about communication and comprehension skill. So, with technical background, project management skill, system analysis ability ,communication skill and experience I think I am an appropriate candidate for this position. ### Why do you think that you worth this salary Monitoring projects' time, scope, cost these are regular works for PM, but the most important skill of doing these works is communication. Let's say an engineer cost 5,000 per day and we have 2 engineers in the team. Customers sometimes require more function in a fixed cost project. After evaluating it will take four days to complete. In my past experience, this sitution always can be disscused. Communicating with both side always can find a way to decrease impact. If I can move this requirement to next phase in new contract, it means that company will earn 40000. ### What's yout salary range expectation? 1 million ~ 1.2 million per annum. ## Q 5: Behavioral Questions ### What are the three things that are most important for you in a job? ### What do you do in your spare time? ### What motivates you? ### A time you made a mistake in your job. How did you handle it? **I have once received a complaint about the quality of an app that developed by my team. I found that the reason was the new developer didn't fully understand the spec of the requirement. First, I discussed this situation with other members who have same spec. Clarifying the main problem is the form of the spec or other issue. and we found a solution. After that I reported to the customer with both the cause and the solution.** **That was a mistake I made, because all of the new members in my team were trained by me and I didn't discover this kind of problem so that was my responsibility.** I have once email a wrong excel document to client. First I apologized and explained what was going on. And then fixed that document updated a new version. After that, I practice my excel skill and check documents twice before I email. ### A time you dealt successfully with a complaint or difficult customer successfully. ### Your highest accomplishments or the accomplishment you are most proud of. ### A time you handled a high-pressure situation. A project previously reworked, but customer asked us to finish 28% earlier. I initiate to assist clients to complete their tasks and discuss the priority of features and the acceptable demonstration with clients. The original demand for compressing timescale was 28%, finally it's 14%. We achieve the milestone 10% earlier. Customer gives us extra 10% bonus in relevant project! ### A situation in which you showed real leadership. A project previously reworked, but customer asked us to finish 28% earlier. Everybody in the team felt depressed. I talked to every members, tring to understand their need, doing my best to support them, not only on the project but also helping them to relax, such as hanging out to night market together. ### A time when you disagreed with your boss. We have once different opinions about offering a candidate. In this kind of situation, I would try to understand him first. Because many disagrees are coming from misunderstanding. And that was too. After I understood, we both misunderstood each other. ### A biggest difficulty you have ever encountered. In the past, I was in a position that requiring multiple tasks simultaneously. I love this high-pressured situation that motives my brain. But sometimes I would be bewildered by prioritizing which one to complete first. I have once my boss asked me for finishing four tasks in the same time, in two weeks. When I asked him which is the most important for him. He said A, then when I asked him agin next day, he said B. At that monment, I realized, I shouldn't ask him a question like this. So, I change my question. Which task has direct connection with money? Which task has clear deathline? Which task is for external customer? After asking questions like this, I prioritized the tasks then completed them in the time fit my boss needed. ### Tell me about a time your responsibibities got a little overwhelming? ## Q6: What Do You Know about the Company ### What do you already know about our company? ### What do you know about our competitors? ### What makes you a good fit for our company? ## Q7: Future Goals and Future Outlook ### Where do you see yourself in 5 years? ### What are your career goals? Keep learning. I'm so excited of many new technology, such as IOT, VR and the most is the combination with AI. I hope I could take part in these technological revolution in a comprehensive perspective. **And besides project management, I hope I could learn knowledge about Marketing, Business Strategies to integrate with company's development and bring more benefit. So I have to keep learning.** Note: act in a different role/ program The great thing about technology is that it's always evolving and it's important to stay updated and well-informed. ### What would you do in your first 3-4 months here? I hope I can meet the goals that have been set for me. ### What would your first 30 days look like in this job? **I'd like to get to know the people I’ll be working with the most and to be comfortable with them. And I'd like to understand many things such as- Number 1, the existing product about its features, history and customers. 2, the existing projects about their project management plan, managing method and working process. 3, business strategies, what's the company future plan?** ## Q8: Strengths ### If I asked your supervisor to describe you, what would he/she say? ### What do you think your top strength is? Motivated. At the previous company, my boss has once said "Belinda do you know, I almost wanted to give up because of some frustrations. But when I saw you working in the office, you are so positive and motivated that encourged me. Thank you." This touched me deeply, and let me understand that being an influential person is really imporant. ### What's your Strengths and Weaknesses? I’m a person who love exploring reasons and motivated on the goal, these might be advantages and disadvantages. Sometimes exploring reasons help me find the core problem because I can fully understand the situation, but sometimes I maybe spend too much time worrying about the small details rather than the big picture. For example, let’s say we have a project is about building an order number querying system. I need to know why the demand is “an order number querying system”? I love asking “why” because I need to understand the whole picture. After I decide to work on this, I’ll be very motivated until I complete, sometimes I can’t stop myself. Also, I find that pressure motivates me. I believe that stress make people grow. All off all, in order not to overreact, I will do self-reflection. So that I can keep a cool head even in high-pressured situations. ### Describe what a successful day looks like for you. ### What are you good at? ## Q10: Closing Questions ### Do you have questions for me? ### Are there any questions you’d like to ask? ### Is there anything you wish I had asked about but didn’t? (This is my favorite question as an interviewer!) [My questions](https://hackmd.io/4LlYlRvbR8qYGY63spUtgw) ## Others ### 1. What's the thing that you care about most in the work For me, the most imporant thing is growth. The growth of knowladge, experiences, views and company. ### 2. Can you explain the reason for between jobs for about 4 months? I hope I can learn something different. I learn Marketing, Operation Management, Design Thinking in these months. The reason that I learn Marketing is - I have once planning a product for the previous company. In that experience, I was coufused, because I thought planning a product should consider with many sides. But they just said "We have source code, now we can make it to be our product.". In that process I don't know - why we need to make product? who is the potential customer? how can we sell the product? That's terrible and nobody could answer me. After that, I think if I have some concept about Marketing, it might help and that's the reason - in order to broaden my horizons. NOTE: broaden my horizons (learn more) ## Note eSobi is a Subsidiary Company of HiTrust, responsible for Native App Development. eSobi is an Outsourcing company, main clients are EVA Air, THSRC and HiTrust. There 're only anout 13 employees in eSobi. My previous company is an outsourcing company, focusing on Apps but also worked on some web cases. Our team is like a cross-functional team. We trained each member has abilty to work as different role with different skills. Such as me, I was an iOS developer, SA, PM. Another PM in the team, she worked as a QA too. Teammates are mostly under 30-year-old. Our main customers are EVA Air and Taiwan High Speed Rail but we also had some cases from Bank such as Taipei Fubon, CTBC Bank. There were 9 members under my management. They were all engineers, 4 Android and 5 iOS. We were an flat organization, I believe that an open-mind atmosphere is a key to lead a team improving. Another thing is being skeptical, I'm not saying that not to trust others, I'm talking about the possiblity of the beliefs or assumptions. Because most of the people are subjective, but also creative. If we can erase subjectivities, putting our thoughts together, that will be powerful. In order to reach this, we have to test and validate what is valuable for the team. So, being skeptical is also important. ## Vacb Self-discipline
