New Food Labels Show Real Expiration Dates

New Food Labels Show Real Expiration Dates

Discussion

1. What are your thoughts on Mimica Touch labels?

The first thing is the cost of the labels. In the article, I know knew that this is the early stage of the temperature-sensitive label, thus the cost of the labels will still be higher then when it is mature they are commonly used.
So, when the labels appear on the food, it might influence influent the price of the food, this is the second point.
Thirdly, how can we know that the reason of "save more and waste less" is because of the labels or the price?
According to these reasons, I think it might be tested on the food with high unit price.
But basically Mimica Touch labels might defintely help people have a better sense of how to store food and to even improve the way of saving food.

2. How much food do you imagine gets wasted in your country?

The Research states (has concluded/ come to the conclusion) point out that each Taiwanese wasted 158kg of food per year. That's a lot of food!

3. Have you taken any steps to reduce the amount of food you waste?

First, record the amount volume of food that I need during the period.
Secondly, buy the food to match the demand.
Thirdly, store the food in the freezer until the day I have to use them it. Take out the amount of food from the freezer that just I need.
Four Last of all, if I couldn't finish the food at in once, I will keep them in crispers.

4. What advice would you give to people who want to "save more and waste less"?

Match supply with demand. This is a sentence that I learned in Operations Management, it's talking about overproduction. I think it is quite similar in to this situation, if we didn't buy too much, it dosn't exist a issue of "waste" the issue of waste wouldn't exist.

5. How difficult do you think it would be to live a zero-waste lifestyle?

It's extremely difficult. Some people enjoy the feeling of being wasteful /(wastefulness) although we have been educated to not be not to.

feel -> adj
wastefulness (n)

Further Discussion

1. How often do you go shopping for groceries?

Typically once every two weeks, I don't like to go to market places such as Costco unless it's necessary. It always takes costs me a lots of time, starting starts from driving to the Costco, parking the car in the parking lot, entering the market in order sequentially, picking up the groceries, being stuck in the middle of the aisles corridor, waiting for checkout, and finally going back to the car and returning return to home.

take time

2. Do you often have leftovers?

No, I don't. I will prepare just the right amount of food for myself. But I know that it's is difficult to put into practice in a family because the quantity of food for of each member is hard to plan controll.

3. Who would you say is the best cook you know?

If only considering the people around me, I would say my mom. She is a cook who loves cooking and baking. She is good at making Taiwanese food, Thai food, Chinese food and many kinds of cakes and spends most of her time in the kitchen whether it is a work day or a rest day.

4. Do you know anyone who's bad at cooking?

Well, defintely it's is me. My mom usually says that because she as is a good cook, how come her daughter makes strange dishes that everybody don't doesn't like (nobody likes) it. My boyfriend said I can write a book, named "How to make unpalatable cuisine".

5. To me, it's sort of funny that wasting food is not taboo. — Jonathan Bloom. What do you make of this statement?

I agree. In the In every corner of the world, many people are still starving, even died for hunger. We should cherish of that we have the ability to buy and the environment to let that allows us own to have enought food.

starving=died for hunger
