# Chronicle 0: The Genesis of a New World
Dear current (and future) members of the Monster Maps community,
A week has not even passed since Monster Maps was summoned into the Ether and it's amazing how much we've built together. From what was a series of simple black and pink JPEGs, quests, bounties, narratives, clans, guilds have emerged. The most glorious part of it all was that this was done entirely from the ground-up by the humble adventurers of Monster Maps.
To keep a pulse on this everchanging landscape of Monster Maps, this is a good time to chronicle the world-changing history of this world, and give our future adventurers a rallying cry to join us on this adventure
## Once upon a time.. 📜
A couple of Raid Guild members were stoked by the Loot project and its derivatives such as Maps. On 4 September, we decided to give the D&D derivative projects a spin to launch something of our own.
How would a world of adventure and mysticism exist without mythical beasts and the epic encounters? Hence, we got to building a derivative of the Maps project - creating Monster Maps.
As a group of dedicated Cartographers, we put together the Monsters, Maps, smart contracts and a Discord server and launched into the Ether.
Everything changed when the fair minting and Etherscan yeeting began..
## Quests: Go forth, adventurers! ⚔️
As soon as word started to spread, adventurers across the Metaverse gathered within Discord, starting their hunt for Monsters and Monster Maps. Uncovering the mysterious Monster Maps started a new age of land discovery and monster hunting. The apeish collectors started hunting down low-digits and strange numbers, while the slayers of The God of Coordination Failure started assembling the Molochs and Baals across the land.
Within the first day, we saw the emergence of Quests among the adventurers gathered. This would become the first gameplay mechanic within the world of Monster Maps, the ground work for generations of adventurers to come.
On the fateful day, it seemed like there was a Monster Invasion in [Map #5822](https://opensea.io/assets/0x6c8715ade6361d35c941eb901408efca8a20f65a/5822) and the townfolk needed the adventurers' help to hunt down the monsters on the map.

Before long, a party of wealthy patrons started putting together a bounty of 2000 $RAID for the adventurers brave enough to slay the beasts.
## Guilds: The coming together of artists, builders and creators 🏰
From the black and pink world of Monster Maps, a visionary artist that could see beauty in this magical land created the very first painting of a Monster.
When the adventurers first saw the painting, inspiration and awe filled the air. Soon word spread, and creators and artists from lands far and wide banded together to continue imagining and painting the marvels of this world.
Drawing on their journeys in other worlds, the Cartographers borrowed the magic sorcery of DAOhaus to create the first on-chain [Cartographers' Guild](https://qa.daohaus.club/dao/0x64/0x85e3cd186ab6c18f2172373bb22783e4108f5aa5/proposals) on xDai. Shortly after, we saw the creation of the [Artists' Guild](https://qa.daohaus.club/dao/0x64/0xf94e35b999340038a8392d25e7446812908fbe8c) and many guilds to come within this world of Monster Maps.
## New Roles: Game masters & adventurers 🍻
As more adventurers started sharing stories of their glorious journeys, the world saw the rise of 2 important archetypes. First, we had Adventurers - the brave and courageous embarking on quests for gold and glory. The second would be the Game Masters - the story tellers, book keepers and connectors that make the Quests and Bounties happen.
Without these 2 archetypes, this world would surely be a dark void at a standstill, or unimaginable chaos.
Within the Tavern, there were 2 natural leaders telling stories and organising bounties for Adventurers. The crowd unanimously indicted them as Game Masters, as we cheered on the return of our first Raid Party.
As the Party shared their stories of conquest and battle, the crowd celebrated and hailed them as the "Adventurers", as the Game Masters split the bounty and distribtued it to these deserving heroes.

## An ominous new Narrative: Moloch & Monsters strike back! 🌋
As Day 3 arrived, the Game Masters started hearing rumours of a darker and insidious Narrative emerging. It was not good news - the Moloch has arisen to assemble his army of Monsters to strike back at the humans.
The Moloch's first sighting was in the Swamps, and his quest for the Monsters was for them to swear allegiance. Players with monsters from the Swamp could swear alleigance to Moloch for power, safety and some bounty of $RAID.
Amidst the ominous fog engulfing the Swamp, 8 Monsters submitted their allegiance to the Moloch. As the plot thickens, the nights started getting darker and the air started feeling sinister. This is indeed not a good omen for the humans and townfolk, and we fear for what is to come.
## Clans: The landgrab begins 🛡
Hearing rumours of Monsters striking back, adventurers started pooling their lands the very next day, forming Clans. These clans would own pieces of land that are consecutively next to each other.
The landgrab for Maps has already begun, as the Clans start preparing for the worst case - war, death or annihiliation. According to the wise Game Master, he foretells a story where this is merely the first Level and there are many more to come.
Time and time again, humans have been on the endless sisyphian cycle of peace, cooperation abd war. I wonder if this tale will end up the same...
## Minter Dapp: Farewell, the Etherscan maze 🛠
As everyone was busy with monster hunting, land grabbing, and story telling, a silent blacksmith was diligently building a dApp for his fellow adventurers. To prepare for battle, adventurers no longer needed to brave the maze of minting from Etherscan contracts and could easily view their Monsters and Maps, as well as hunt for new ones.
Do not underestimate this blacksmith and his dApp - if this is what we could accomplish braving the Etherscan maze, imagine what can be done with this interface.
More adventurers, more monsters, more maps...

## And the wheels of fate continue spinning...
With each passing day, the living beast of Monster Maps continues to thrive and grow in ways unimaginable by the Cartographers. As we bear witness and chronicle the winds of change, we look in awe and wonder on how much has changed and how much more things will evolve in the future.
Well, what's next to come? That is something that will depend on you, fellow Adventurer.
