--- tags: Brainstorm, Bounties, Quests --- # Monster Maps: Bounty & Quest Website Brainstorm **Purpose:** This is a brainstorm doc to gather ideas and notes for a potential website for the emerging story threads as told through the Bounties & Quests. - This doc is a starting point! Please add thoughts and comments! ## Goals and Objectives - What can we use as a hub for all of the incredible emerging narrative being shared (and co-created) through the Quests and Bounties? - These are currently being created and shared in the Discord, but if we add them to a site (or to a page on the existing dApp) would this help with onboarding folks into the ongoing narrative? - Create a *handbook* with the story elements and potentially include the bounties and quests ### User Stories These are some that I've thought of and discovered through describing this project to others/observing existing players. We can also talk to actual users (and potential users) for their input! - *As an Adventurer, I want...* - ...to go to a hub and see all active (and past) quests and bounties. - *As a Game Master, I want...* - ...to have tools and resources to support my creation of quests and bounties. - ...to have a hub where the ongoing narrative is documented, expanded, and shared. - ...to integrate the stories in my quests and bounties with the larger narrative. - *As someone interested (but not yet participating), I want...* - ...to see the past narrative and the emerging storyline so I can jump in and get involved. - ...to see what the quests and bounties are like and what bounty payouts look like before I spend gas. - ...to see what the community narrative looks like before jumping into Discord. ## Notes & Ideas - *Handbook*: Gitbook or Docusaurus site for all of the story elements? - What's inside our *Handbook*? - What's our *Dungeon Master's Guide* and *Player's Handbook*? - Weave in the bounties and quests with the overall narrative -- present the narrative on the site and then connect in the quests via a "Tavern" -- emphasize storytelling - "Tavern" theme with a "Bounty Board" where Adventurers can view *current* and *completed* bounties: - Bounty details - Bounty narrative and description - Adventurer raid party - Bounty payout ($RAID amount) - Bounty status (open, closed) - What elements/tools could be helpful to support Game Masters and story tellers? - Token gated ($RAID? or Cartographer shares?) portal for folks to create and submit bounties and stake with $RAID? - Quest template for suggested structure and payout? (This may already exist) ## Resources & Inspiration - [Monster Slayer Bounties - Google Sheet](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QGoe46RNMCY2Wm7E58jayYfYPAWrRQut1ZyBlcKIkmE/edit#gid=0) - [Rarity: the Cellar]https://andrecronje.medium.com/rarity-the-cellar-83a1606a0be3 ## Notes from Hack Session - How do we wrap our heads around this and organize the content? - How do we organize the content and create some docs to channel the energy? - What can we create to help folks create within the community and narrative? - How would someone who first shows up into the Discord get onboarded? - SplainerDAO to make a summary of the narrative so far? - What's the minimum amount of content / story / narrative someone would need to get involved in the community? - We have a lot of good resources in *Getting Started*, what's the easiest place to land and start? - Choose Your Own Adventure! - Different aspects: - 1) Figuring out what the quests are - 2) Figuring out how to collaborate and how to write the narrative - Could we add some templates? - Narrative/Quest templates where people can add ideas? - Bounty amount? Fill in a narrative? - Categories of quests -- short blurb about what is the easiest way to get involved in these? - Solo quests as a good starting point? - Display quests by difficulty / ease of starting off? - Templates for each difficulty level / type of quest - Scaffold up toward the most complex (Clan Quests) - Solo -> Narrative -> Clan Quest - What if we do roles that unlock content based on participation? - Solo roles -> unlock narrative -> unlock Clans - Turn completed quests into a blog post or docs? - Original point of the Medium -- how can we allow more folks to contribute this so it's not as heavy on a single person to write out? - How can we have other Game Masters help out with this? - *Chronicles* - This could be a way to find more writers and contributors - Look toward existing D&D content and homebrew campaigns that are open - Quest books - Surface the resources and put it out there -- offer bounties for folks who contribute resources that are made available? - IRL D&D: - Donations of Maps & Monsters to give away and bring folks in? - Tap into the set of dev Maps & Monsters - Art and Monster packs! - NFTs on xDAI - Represent in the clan DAOs as they spin up that can be held in the DAOs without worry of cross-chain transfers - DAO Clan Mechanic - Clans create DAOs - Funds going to a DAO based on what land they hold - Can we track how many monsters each clan has captured? - Clans can be a utility for requesting funds to run their own quest sessions - Supplementary data source (like Airtable) to track (and verify) that things are owned on Mainnet - Can the lands be a gallery? (on same chain) - Connections cross-chain could be really interesting -- - Quests for collecting monsters/maps that span chains (planes of existence) - Add value to the things on Mainnet - Super Monster (PLANESWALKER!) - tokenIds: connect address to the tokenId and have this cross chains? - Allows for permenance - What resources and what steps? - Call for writers: Prove themselves first -> upgrade to Game Master - Drafting channel / drafting workflow -> post potential quests for review -> upgraded by a Game Master - Setting more standards around payouts and bounties - Do we standardize **ranges of rewards for Game Masters** who are creating quests? - GM: 10% - Add to narrative: 5% - Commissions to NFTs used in story line: 2% - Standardize the Quest templates - Prompts/fill in the narrative -> include the recommended rewards to help with onboarding new Game Masters and scaffolding the creation process - Standard template with outcomes - Solo: - Adventure: Get all monsters on map - Monster: Get all monsters from a trait/location - Clan: Get as many *adjacent* pieces of maps - Everyone with a monster in location joins - Do this by location or trait? - Clan Quests: - Base layer: connecting the land - Level 2: getting the monsters on the land (recruiting folks who have the monsters) - Building the story around this - Can be more open since these are more complex - **Docusaurus or Gitbook?** - Set up a site and docs that contain the narrative and story? - Design system? - What would the repo management look like? - Raid Guild for now, but then what? - **$RAID Game Mechanics** - Everything right now is a *drain* for RAID. How can we have a source? - What can people do to *buy back* -- buying art between players? - What's a source of RAID into the bounty bucket? - Farming? - Game Masters or Cartographers Guilds? - Staking into Liquidity pools - Art for clans! - Monsters can have special traits (such as a Ruby Heart) if you turn it into a ERC20 - Clan bragging rights? - Pay $RAID to have your clan/DAO name out there - Resources NFT and have peopel be able to build up their settlements? - Mint representations of the Maps or Monsters -- says that it's a "representation" of it on xDAI - Address -> shows on Mainnet and then a representation of it on xDAI that can be held in the DAO - What would happen if it's sold? - Snapshotting and dumping the data into xDAI -- wouldn't be *transferrable* but could be a representation of what's owned on Mainnet - **xDAI and Arb** - linked via tokenIds but unique in their own right -- different trait/version of the same monster (angelic, demonic, etc) - would we split the community? how can we keep the value and connection on Mainnet? - Mainnet monster allows for opening up the portal to the other dimensions/planes - Creating more supply by launching on xDAI and Arb, but could give for free to current holders - Could then charge $20-30 for the leftover ones and these funds can go into the DAO treasury - **Other Aspects of the Gameplay sitting on L2s/sidechains:** - Monsters & Maps on Mainnet, but other aspects (such as weapons, wearables, powers, resources) on other chains - How to create longevity and gameplay on Mainnet and extend outward to L2s - Delay the launch and use this as a *goal* that *unlocks* at a certain point/threshold - Allows for some hype! - **Tiered unlocks**: - 20% gates of xDAI open! - 20%: weapons unlock! - 50% gates of Arbitrum unlock! - 50%: buildings unlock! - mint progress tracker to show unlocks and unlock community rewards - Buying -> contribute to a progress tracker (MONSTER RUSH!) - Having mainnet tokens -> get rewarded when these tiers unlock - Visualization: *The Void* representing what's on xDAI - *why would people mint on Mainnet* since it costs so much more? - Has to have a way to **incentivize** and be a driving part of the narrative - Could this provide a *key*? - Mainnet monsters *always* integrated? - Releases something different on the other side -- going through a bridge! - Make an announcement: - Mainnet token is your bridge -> require that you have a Monster on Mainnet as a key (at a snapshot) - Snapshot: *Keys being forged* - tokenId 1234 on Arb, Mainnet, xDAI -> really powerful, prestigious accomplishment - Heroes that have come to fight the monsters so far get the ability to join a camp / region where there are weapons/powers/resources available, and this is why they have to go forth and prove themselves (on xDai, Arbitrum) - Spin off a new set of things from here - Mainnet as a hub, travel outwards to the other realms (xDAI, Arbitrum) - Mainnet: Earthly plane, core city, and then the other lands are where adventurers GO (as dungeons) - How do we balance the power levels of each plane? - Channeling the powers from other planes! - Stronger narrative to get people minting more - Progress tracker with some mystique? - How do we incentivize people to keep minting Monsters & Maps - Continue to add value via community and a game - pfp that's a derivative of the monster (amazing art based on the text NFT as a primitive) - ## Next Steps - Progress tracker - Launches on other chains -
