# Turning Point - French & Indian War
> The French and the Natives all wanted the same thing, land, and when that happens people fight.

## Mercantilism
> The mother country is controlling another country for the purpose of their resources. Providing natural resources to the mother country for the betterment of both countries.

Colonies would get certain thing's like autonomy.

The colonies in question would be restricted to their mother country.

### Navigation Acts
Trade on english ships would often be imported through english ports, with the occasional trades to other countries like Spain but nothing that would be big enough to enforce.

> Indirect Tax - Affects very few people
> Direct Tax - Affects many people (teacher)

## French & Indian War
> This would be the Colonist and the British against the French and the Natives.

> Called the 7 years war in Europe.

The Iraqoui would side with the British, but other than that pretty much all of the Natives would side with the French due to them just generally treating natives better.

There would also be just a variety of conflicts(including the French & Indian War) that would make up the 7 years war in Europe.
## The War Begins 1754
The French would have taken all of these rocks and marked all of their territory. So a 22 year old guy named George Washington would be sent with 150 militia to deliver a warning to the French.

As a result, Geogrge Washington would build Fort Neccisity in a valley surronded by woods that could barely stand, and this would be built down from Fort Ducane.

A French Scouting party eventually scout George Washington, and 13 French people would die, including the French Commander which would be leading the scout party. Washington would eventually retreat back to Fort Neccisity and would be forced to surrender, which would lead to the start of the war.

## The Albany Plan of Union
At the same time that all of this is happening, Benjamin Franklin would organize a colonial assembly

Georgia would not show up so only 12 colonies would attend but the colonies would disagree and the plan would fail. This is important because it will become a model for the future.

### Battle of Monongahela
The British are guessing that the French are going to attack so it leads to the first battle. Around 2,000 soldiers would march onto Fort Duquesne and fail horribly. The British would fight into 2 straight rows, while the French and the Indians would fight from behind the trees, using Guerilla Style tactics. Eventually, the British General Edward Braddock would be killed.

George Washington would eventually lead the troops from the battlefield back to Virginia and would be known as a hero. This would allow the war to continue.

## Willaim Pitt
> The first 2 years of the war, the British would be getting beat since they had second hand soldiers and bad fighting tactics. William would put all of the British money behind the war in the colonies.

William Pitt would be a British Prime Minister and would be determined to win the war, he would raise money and send the best soldiers.

## Battle Of Quebec
The British General James Wolfe would lead 4500 troops up a steep cliff in the middle of the night and would suprise the French at the cost of The Highest Ranking French and British Generals dying. (French - Montcalm, British Wolfe)

In 1760, Montreal would be the last time the French would have any flag of their own on American Land. Eventually this would lead to the Peace of Paris in 1763, and would Ended war in America and Europe. France would give up all of their land in North America, handing over stuff like Canada and lands east of Mississippi to Britain, and lands west of the Mississippi to Spain.

Spain would also give up Florida to Britain, and would get Cuba and The Phillipines.

Something very important for the Indigineous people is that they would now have no allies.

## After Math
### Colonist
- The French threat is removed
- Anxious to settle western lands
- Lost respect for the British army
- Would in general increase resentment towards Britain.
- General increase in pride & identity
- Development of colonial militia

> Now at this point the Navigation Acts would be much more enforced since a war had just ended and they would really need the money.

## Pontiac's Rebellion
At this point the Natives had also lost all of their allies, so Ottawa Chief Pontiac would drive the British from frontier forts, with many colonist dying in the process.

The British would make a fake sign of peace, that being blankets that would be infected with smallpox to the Indians, as a result of this the rebellion would die out.
## Procolmation of 1763
King George would end up drawing a line that would not allow anyone to settle past the west of the Appalachians and this would leave the rest of the land to the Indians, since maintinaing them in other ways would prove to be too hard or expensive. The Colonist would be very mad, and regardless of this procolmation they would go over the Appalachians anyway.
