Zoom link: https://stanford.zoom.us/j/93445935624?pwd=K0VUWk0zaVNMZlU1U0xUMS8vSWUwZz09 # Abstract The Nucleic Acid Knowledgebase (nakb.org) is a new data resource, updated weekly, for experimentally determined 3D structures containing DNA and/or RNA nucleic acid polymers and their biological assemblies. NAKB indexes nucleic acid-containing structures derived from all major structure determination methods (X-ray, NMR, and EM), including all held by the Protein Data Bank (PDB). As the planned successor to the Nucleic Acid Database (NDB), NAKB’s design preserves all functionality of the NDB and provides novel nucleic acid-centric content, including structural and functional annotations, as well as annotations from and links to external resources. A variety of custom interactive tools have been developed to enable rapid exploration and drill-down of NAKB’s content. # BIO Bio: Cathy Lawson is a Structural Biologist with over four decades of experience in government and academic environments (NCBI Bibliography). Following graduate training at the University of Chicago (Ph.D., 1987, Thesis: Structure Analysis of the L-tryptophan Ligand in E. coli trp Repressor) and post-doctoral training at the University of Groningen, she established an independent research program at Brookhaven National Laboratory that involved structure elucidation and analysis of macromolecular complexes using X-ray crystallography. Moving to Rutgers in 1999, she switched gears to focus on developing infrastructure for structural biology data archiving. Her first major accomplishment in this area was to develop and implement an improved, computer-readable representation for point and helical symmetries in virus structures archived in the Protein Data Bank. She has been heavily involved in development of cryo-EM structure deposition, validation, and retrieval services (emdataresource.org). Her most recent project involves developing a knowledgebase for nucleic-acid containing 3D structures (nakb.org). Working remotely for Rutgers since 2020, she lives in Vermont with her husband and dog and plays flute in the local town band.
