Gov. Proposal for Revival of NYC Space

Immediate Equipment Needs for inventory storage cleanup: ~$2000

Office Supplies:

Immediate Need: ~$1,000

Longer term stretch needs:

Photo Studio Stuff: (cost to be split with decode) ~$2000

**Note: This setup is based on Continuous lighting, making it versatile for both photo and video work. Would enable the photo studio to be functional immediately for product photography, E-commerce photos & video (full body of model wearing clothes).

Lighting, softboxes and and light stands would be purchased used from Milfdad. Wall mount kit and the seamless backdrop papers would be ordered from B&H and shipped to the NYC space.

Plan for some creative content ideas with the greenscreen backdrop. Good opportunity for m3 and the NYC team to work as a cohesive team generating content that blurs the lines between digital and physical.

Fulfillment System:

  • All packages need to be shipped out with a packing slip and MetaFactory stickers, and ideally an additional insert with more information about MF wearables, path to join the discord, etc.
  • International packages need to be marked a lower value for customs purposes. (20% reduction due to $ROBOT rebate, and additional 50% reduction due to 50/50 split of value between digital & physical goods purchased.)
  • Shipments should be sent out from the MetaFactory NYC space twice per week.
  • Scheduled weekly Pickups from USPS, FedEx, UPS to be explored
  • ShipStation logins can be created for core team members. The benefits of this are as follows:
    • Easily track who created which shipments, for purposes of compensation and also accountability.
    • Team members can create shipping labels for internal shipping needs (production related shipping). This allows creation of a label from any Ship From location to any Ship To location.
    • Easy comparison of costs between various shipping providers
    • Integrated with Shopify

Proposed Compensation: $4 per standard package shipped would compensate our contributors at a rate that is roughly similar to the cost of ShipBob. Keeps the incentives fully aligned for fast shipping. The standard package defined here is poly mailer with clothing.

*( Requesting a review of actual shipbob invoices & costs for a more accurate comparison, before a final structure for this is set in stone). *

Each time a contributor goes to ship, they can make a dework entry in the fulfillment channel with a count of the number of packages sent out. Ideally compensation can be aggregated to reduce unnessary gas expense and payouts could be made every two weeks via dework or utopia (allowing contributor to request USDC or ROBOT).

Main contributors to start would be Ben & Jay sharing the responsibility of fulfillment. Once system is running, Clay from Decode has offered to pitch in on fulfillment if needed. The goal long term is to implement a system that is easy enough for a new person to pick up without friction, including the scanning of HaLo chips, generation of shipping labels, maintaining organized inventory, etc.

Additional work (such as initial setup of new equipment & reorganizing of inventory, implementation of barcode system, etc.) can be compensated on a case by case basis ad hoc as needed via Utopia or DeWork.

Summary

By the end of summer, the NYC space should be fully revitalized and activated. We can have everyone do a review of the new setup at the end of September and re-evaluate if any changes need to be made, etc.

Similar to other groups recent proposals, it would be great if can create a coordinape circle in Septemeber with a designated amount of $ROBOT allocated (amount TBD by the DAO) that gets split between contributors who have played a part in building the NYC space.

Goals:

  • A functional fulfillment system where packages go out on time.
  • A well organized space with easily accessible inventory.
  • An improved working relationship with Decode.
  • A hub for NYC based content creation for MetaFactory.
