Our complications are mirrored in other DAOs. Lack of money is affecting the complications. We're here for the social club. It's hard to spend other people's money well. The telegram conversation is hard to keep up with. Grant giving is our money (our as a DAO) History: we got together, put in 10 ETH each. some sponsors put in 100 ETH, but they disappeared right away. Right off the bat, they made a purpose - to focus on application layer of Ethereum. The social aspect supported that. In the first 6 months lots of projects spun out, and more projects came out after that. Raid Guild, DAOhaus and Metagame gave so much back to MetaCartel ecosystem. MCON is a huge success. MC brand and ethos is still so strong. Hard to understand why there's arguing. Why are we still here? Workstreams (Pods) have been successful too. TW wants to know what Dekan sees for the future of MC: Dekan loves the MC brand and mission and wants to see more things spin out that are MC aligned. Even communities that grew out on their own are still connected to MC, like sibling brands. MC encourage smaller scrappy groups to keep going. The grants are meaningful for that. MC isn't only grants; it feels like a family, like when we see each other at events. Decentralization makes execution challenging. We need structure and rules. We need leaders. We need someone to give us those rules, so the rest of us can follow. Metagame lets people become champions, who take accountablility. MC was the best when Peter was here pushing us forward. but he was gone after the first 6 months. Without the leader, people pull out in many directions. At the DAO level it's about a shared vision, not a leader. the pods have focused purpose MC should feel like a big blob, sharing a mission. Grants is a side mission. Is delegation something useful to try? with purpose driven work streams? Centralization and decentralization are the peaks and valleys of ongoing experience. leaders: provisional centralization rearticulate the grand purpose is there a need to maintain the structure? MC is built on ragequit, ensuring digital democracy. is breaking it apart okay? Should be making sure that we have enough money for sustainability for a long time? and should we designate responsibility for treasury management to a specific team? Double Down on Denver - take what we already do that is good, start from that and build around that. What's good is MCON. Making an impact is more important than the structure. Permissionless, RQ and voting aren't interesting. Engaging people is more valuable. Getting the Key to the City, means MC made an impact on a community and having or not having the key lets us know if we've succeeded. Chili Pods are positive Rage Forks. Getting a Key of the City and running MCON can be a workstream. what about an expectation for knowledge transfer as people move on? Before it was many people pushing the DAO and now it's our turn to push it for future generations. What about workstreams of champions, where people take ownership of dreams and have a team that supports them. Before the internet, there was a common vision that poeple gathered around in rituals and common objectives or goals. What should be the objective and focus? - keep what is successful - change what's not working - social and communications - common mission When it was a smaller group, it was easier to understand who took roles. As new people came in, old people left. There wasn't structures, it was legacy, like townhall. It's hard to reconcile what were trying to become when were trying to Find ways to empower people to take on leadership roles. Is EthDenver a shelling point for realignment? Maybe we need proper documentation about grants Let's not loose the meme! Social side is important. Let's take a few weeks to align and get consensus on what the social things look like. haven't figured out the onboarding of new members. because MC is not easy to navigate, grant recipients are struggling in their development cuz they can't go back to MC for more funding. It's hard to keep talent. we need to make MC to produce for everyone. there's belief in the mission. the MC grant was validation for grant recipients. what about a monthly report about grantees and how MC can support it would be sad to have the grant program go away the grants are sustainable let's define action items and get working on them membership NFTs? Concrete things we can do - strategy peth's proposal is a good place to start! MC succeeded what it set out to do.
