I'm having trouble with this problem on the homework could you help me out? It's a a pig runs rightward 20 m To eat a juicy apple. And then walked leftward 5 m To eat a nut. Finally, it walks leftward another 25 m To eat another nut. The total time Taken by the pig was 300 seconds. What was the pigs average velocity? </div></div> <div><div class="alert blue"> Yeah for sure I can help you on that. So basically what you need to start off that the two points in time so the start time which we can use as t=a and then the stop time and we can say thats t= b, also something that you need to know is the position of the function and that can be shown as s(t). So now since im done talking about what we need to know the big thing is the Average Velocity formula you need to use is $AV_{a,b}=\frac{s\left(b\right)-s\left(a\right)}{b-a}$. </div><img class="right"/></div> <div><img class="left"/><div class="alert gray"> Oh okay see thats where I started getting lost I just didn't have that additional of helpful information. So would I set it up like this? $AV_{20,5,25}\frac{20-5-25}{300}$ </div></div> <div><img class="left"/><div class="alert gray"> But I feel like that's not right because its not a whole number you see I got it in a fraction. </div></div> <div><div class="alert blue"> So you are really close ! After that step we would want to simplify everything to get that whole number that you are looking for, like in this example I was working on in the homework down the line was $s\left(t\right)=16t^{2}+20t+10$ and to find the average velocity from t= 0.2 to t= 0.5 , so what I did was I gathered all my infromation like I mentioned before then I used the formula I told you to use to look like this: $AV_{0.2,0.5}=\frac{5\left(0.5\right)-5\left(0.2\right)}{0.5-0.2}$ and I know im not finished because I have to do all my math so then what I got was: $\frac{16-13.36}{0.3}$ but again im not finished now what im going to do is subtract the top values then divide by that 0.3 and that looks like this: $\frac{2.64}{0.3}=8.8\ ft\ per\ \sec$ and that 8.8 ft per sec is my final answer. So you see its a step by step thing but you always want to include every step so that you don't get lost and also its easy reference for when tests come up and stuff. So knowing all of that what did you finally come up with? </div><img class="right"/></div> <div><img class="left"/><div class="alert gray"> Oh okay that makes sense thank you for that example you used it really helped me out okay so now what I got when I did all my math was this: $AV_{20,5,25}\frac{20-5-25}{300}\ =-\frac{10}{300\ }=\ -\frac{1}{30}=0.33$ </div></div> <div><div class="alert blue"> Yes that is absolutely correct ! Also don't forget to label your units, and you can get that from above with what the example problem is giving you </div><img class="right"/></div> <div><img class="left"/><div class="alert gray"> Okay yeah i'll make sure I put those in so it would look like this in the endincluding units? $AV_{20,5,25}\frac{20-5-25}{300}\ =-\frac{10}{300\ }=\ -\frac{1}{30}=0.33\ \frac{m}{s}$ Okaay that makes a whole lot of sense now wow that was crazy but thank you so much for helping me with it all. </div></div> <div><div class="alert blue"> Yes thats great !! I'm happy you finaally got it in the end thats so great and I know tis difficult but just with more practive you will be for sure a pro at this, you can ask for my help anytime im just really happy you got it in the end. :) </div><img class="right"/></div> --- To submit this assignment click on the Publish button ![Publish button icon](https://i.imgur.com/Qk7vi9V.png).
