# Persona Articles --- title: 'What is a Persona?' next: 'create-a-persona' --- In Kurate, a Persona is a group identity that allows anonymous community members to create and curate public content together. From an individual Player’s perspective wishing to create content, it’s like posting publicly while wearing the Persona as a mask. How it works is, a Player chooses a Persona and submits a post. Before a post goes live, the community has the opportunity to vote on whether or not a post is “in character” of the Persona. If they vote yes, the post graduates to the Persona’s main page. If no, the post gets deleted. Thus communities can anonymously curate context-specific content together. **Players earn reputation (REP) by participating in content creation and curation.** --- title: 'Why create a Persona?' next: --- One way of looking at a Persona is it’s a community of people interested in anonymously curating content around the same context or topic. For example, a travel-based Persona may attract a group of people curating interesting photos, stories, and products from places around the globe. Launching a Persona is for someone who wants to create the context a community of people might gather around, and post through. It’s for someone who wishes to inspire a community to curate content in a context they’re interested in. --- title: 'What are seed posts?' next: --- Before a Player is able to make a Persona public, they must create 5 “seed” posts. Seed posts set the tone of the content a Player hopes will be curated through the Persona. Once launched, no one (not even the creator) may control how the community will develop a Persona’s content, so seed posts are a great way to influence curation at launch. --- title: 'Persona character development' next: --- From an outward perspective, a Persona may look similar to individuals and groups posting on other social media. It's a timeline of content often following a theme. However, what's drastically different is the internal mechanism that produces the public content. In Kurate, groups of anonymous people curate content together by voting on whether or not submitted posts are **in the character of** the Persona. Only posts deemed in-character (Promoted) make it to the public timeline. Because all posts are subject to group curation, a Persona's timeline and thus its character is constantly under development. The one exception is seed posts. Prior to making a Persona public, the Persona creator writes 5 seed posts. Seed posts are not subject to curation, so they can be used by the creator to set the tone of the Persona. --- title: 'How to Create a Persona' next: --- Any logged-in Player with sufficient GO (10 or more) and REP (at least 5) may create a Persona. Select "Create Persona" from the Persona List page to get started. Follow the steps through the creation flow. Once complete the Persona is saved as a draft. Before the Persona can go public, the creator must submit 5 seed posts. Seed posts are not subject to curation. They can be used by the creator to set the tone of the Persona. --- title: 'Minimum REP' next: --- During the Persona creation process, a Persona creator must choose a minimum REP amount. This refers to the minimum REP required for a Players to be able to post in that Persona. Raising the minimum increasingly limits participants to more experienced Players. **A Persona creator may not choose a higher REP minimum than their personal total REP amount.** Keep in mind that no matter what minimum reputation level is chosen, the staking requirement to post remains 5 REP.
