Although when I first installed the ad blocker, my computer shut off and got extremely overheated, so I got concerned, but it is back to normal now. Having the ad blocker is so convenient because there are certain websites that sometimes the information won't show because they are bombarded with ads. I'm highly certain that I'm not the only person who has gotten scared of the ads that sometimes pop on my screen. The way my computer always manages to show me an ad for something I have talked about or looked up before has always puzzled me. So I'm surprised it has taken me so much time to decide to install an ad blocker finally. Generally, online ads are sketchy, so even if they pop off, the odds of someone buying from them are low. Compared with print advertisements, online ads are not as reliable because virtually anyone can place an ad online, and most of the time, they are scams. Like The Guardian article talks about, sometimes ads can be used to attack computers and host malware. One must be highly careful when checking out ads online because you never know what the link is gonna lead to. I find it ironic that an adblocker is launching a service that puts more on a computer; it is implied in the name that they are a literal ad blocker, so why would they change things up. This totally defeats the purpose of what the people got the app for in the first place. I think it is kind of odd that Adblock plus is introducing this new feature, because personally if I download an ad blocker, I would not want to be shown any ads at all, no matter how "sleek" they might be.
