In this article, Danah Boyd talks about the vulnerability of getting information from news media and social media. In the present day, it is complicated to find reliable sources of information because there is so much that the internet offers, and it is not always reliable.

Boyd mentions the "data voids", meaning that often when searching for information one will encounter basically nothing relevant to their topic. She highlights this by saying that breaking news is an example of this because since it is something that just happened there is not much information on the subject.
