### Background
OpenStreetMap (OSM) is a collaborative project to create a free editable map of the world. Founded in 2004, OSM has grown to become one of the largest and most popular open-source mapping projects globally. The project relies on contributions from volunteers, who collect and edit data to create a comprehensive and accurate map.
### Objective
The objective of this event is to promote OpenStreetMap in our local community, educate attendees about the benefits and uses of OSM, and provide hands-on training on how to contribute to the project.
Depending on how we can network and promote the activity, we may opt for one or more events that are appropriate to the background of participants
### Event Details
Activity may include one or both of the following:
#### HisTOURy Tour
- *Description*: A rolling tour using bikes or similar human-powered vehicles encourage discovery of local historical or cultural gems while promoting "Green Tourism" focusing on practical map skills using OSM, in particular, OsmAPP.
- *Participants*: local biking, active-transport/non-motorized, or those that promote green/sustainable lifestyle
- collaborate with local tourism office or local history groups
- *Duration*: 60-90 minutes (rolling tour) + 40-75 minutes (mini-workshop)
- **Requirements**:
- Pre-event
- Mapping, identification, and selection of Historical/Cultural POIs and/or theme
- Create a route, with inputs from local community
- Depending on the number of participants, may entail permits and/or formal coordination with local authorities (LGU)

* Hands-on training on how to create an OSM account and start mapping
* Introduction to OSM editing tools (e.g., RapiD or iD editor)
* Guided exercise: Mapping a local area using OSM
3. **Break and Networking (15 minutes)**
* Opportunity for attendees to ask questions and share their experiences
4. **Advanced Topics and Q&A (45 minutes)**
* Discussion of advanced OSM topics (e.g., data validation, mapping for disaster response)
* Q&A session with experienced OSM contributors
