# User Manual for Manil **This is a cheatsheet to working with Manil, and is brief by design.** * Hello there! I’m Manil ✨💯✨ * Majorcord now takes up all my time. Previously: web ([manil.xyz](https://manil.xyz)), command line (`npx keywordnew`) * This a document about humans, and how we can interact; we (and consequently, this document) are subject to change. ## Tips ![](https://i.imgur.com/XIWLoqg.gif) * cmd-F is your friend: use it to jump to keywords in the text. Try: `hours`. ## FAQ * When not in a scheduled call, I am only available asynchronously. * I default to time in 24-hour clock. You don’t have to. 😉 * If you receive an email or message from me at odd hours, please read it as “Manil is doing work on his schedule”. Please do not read as “Manil needs an answer right now”. Inspiration strikes at odd moments. * Webcams: In calls, I don’t expect you to have your webcam on. Having it on/off is completely your choice. I switch mine on when I can (and it’s active more often than not) but that is definitely not intended to imply I expect you to have yours on too. * Holidays/breaks/extended OOO: Offline time is important, so when I go on vacation I don’t login to any services. It’s healthy to power down a few times a year. ## What motivates me * Collaborating with empathetic, visionary people. You! * The moments where I can pause the sensory overload, to focus on doing One Thing. * Solving problems that other people don't feel down to solve. * Setting people up to do their best. * Brevity. ## What makes me sad ![](https://i.imgur.com/EHe8EkZ.gif) * Decision fatigue: My favourite brunch menus have 3 items, or less. * Multi-tasking: I now avoid activities like responding in Slack while in a meeting. My real-world performance is negatively affected by [“continuous partial attention”](http://mitp.nautil.us/feature/151/the-distracted-mind) and IMO, **not** multitasking is low-hanging fruit in self-improvement. ## References v1 was forked from my ex-manager Andrew Holt’s excellent User Guide.
