## Self reflection in 2021
Hi, I want to begin this Andacht with a reflection of 2021. Ask yourself about these topics:
- How has 2021 been treating you?
- What bad experience did you get during 2021? How did you cope with it?
- Do you also experience any good luck in 2021?
## Luck
Now, I want to discuss a bit more about luck. What is luck? I looked on the internet and this is based on [Cambridge Dictionary](https://dictionary.cambridge.org/de/worterbuch/englisch/luck) luck means:
> "the force that causes things, especially good things, to happen to you by chance and not as a result of your own efforts or abilities"
So we can conclude that **luck is a phenomenon that we couldn't rationally explain**. The way I see this, it happens because we are not able to see the complete system that causes the phenomenon and we perceive this as **random**. With our knowledge, we could try to **find the pattern inside the randomness** by finding the trace that causes the phenomenon. We could **build a sequence** which lead to this phenomenon. For example from [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LopI4YeC4I&t=235s), researchers has studied why can some people get to play in the top tier league of hockey. Surprisingly, the data indicates that most of them (40%) are born in the first quarter of the year. From this premise, I want to extend the question more: **Why were they born in the first quarter of the year?**

*I always imagine that lifes are just like a tree. Each branch represents someone's life path and we could trace the branch to find the source.*
## Infinity
I believe if we try to follow the trace, we will never meet the end (which indicate that we are dealing with **infinity series**.) This reminds me of [the Hilbert's Hotel Paradox](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxGsU8oIWjY). The takeaway from this paradox is that we will never be able to understand what "infinity" is. By this paradox we can say that even a fully booked hotel with infinite numbers of room can still accepts an infinite numbers of new booking. *Something that is not logical, and yet the idea is based on our logic*.

## Destiny
I always associate the word "infinity" with God. In my opinion, the force that orchestrate everything which happens "by chance" is God. From luck, I would say *God is someone that we can't directly see and yet we can feel.*
>Rome 8:28(NLT)
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
I believe, any luck (either a good one and bad one) serves as a purpose for our life and the universe. We will never know the domino effect that comes from our luck. Some of them are already destined. We just have to accept it.
>Proverbs 16:9(NLT)
We can make our plans,
but the Lord determines our steps.
This, however, does not mean that we don't have to do anything. Some luck happens because we also give an effort to make it happen. For an example, if the hockey players don't practice regularly, they will not make a cut to the top league.
But I personally think it's not my job to know which one requires effort, which one does not. The best thing what we can do with our life, is keep moving forward and do what we can do. **And let God do the rest.**
>If I can share a little, this year has not been a great year for me. I lost my father this year due to Covid and my life has been completely changed ever since. That is why I went back to home and stayed there for 6 months. Sometimes it saddens me to know that I could never meet him in person again ,but I notice, it would be not wise for me to not acknowledge some of good lucks that I get from this year. I could still finish my thesis in tough time, I could thankfully spend more time with my family and I can finally meet my cute little nephew. And I think if I had not experienced this, I would have not written this text. This idea came when I was grieving and writing the thesis at the same time.
So I hope this text could motivate and inspire someone out there. **Remember, no matter how bad our life is, we are still the lucky one!**
**Nice song to end the Andacht**
