# Design document: should we add new annotations for Ingress resources? > This document aims at giving as much context as possible (who is involved, the GitHub issues stuck on this question, and any prior discussions we had in the past) in preparation for the bi-weekly community dev meeting of 1st June 2022. Adding new annotations on the Ingress resource. The two feature requests are to be able to pass the encodeUsagesInRequest certificate field ([#5127](https://github.com/cert-manager/cert-manager/pull/5127#issuecomment-1140974088)), and to pass the subject and email SANs ([#4490](https://github.com/cert-manager/cert-manager/issues/4490)). Another related question: what about "preset certificate" or "template certificate" resources? It was proposed in [#2239](https://github.com/cert-manager/cert-manager/issues/2239).
