# Translating to Spanish - Wed-Fri 2nd-4th Dec, 2020

The app (and all existing React web work) is going to be used by a Spanish client at the beginning of 2021. Fortunately, [the work I've done previously translating C+](https://hackmd.io/ZKoDBYe6SfK5U-d_B5jPcw) put the app in a good place to add Spanish support.

In order to handle full translations, I changed a few things:

1. "Normalised" all key/value pairs into a base Json for easy fetching from an endpoint
2. Changed keys to snakecase (eg. "profile_screen_title") to more closely align to our exisiting backend translatio IDs.
3. Renamed keys like "profile_button_accessiblity_label" to "profile_button_aria_label" to better align with web naming.

I've also briefed and introducted the team to this translation setup, as others will be handling the web work.
