# Crypto Cards Now Process $400M+ a Month. Most of It Is Stablecoins. ## Observations from public data on how crypto cards are actually being used Crypto debit cards have existed for a while, but recent data suggests they are moving beyond early experimentation and into more regular, real-world use. Spending volumes are increasing quickly, usage is concentrating around a small number of providers, and stablecoins are clearly emerging as the default way people pay. This post looks at several public Dune dashboards to get a high-level view of how crypto cards are being used today and what patterns stand out. --- ## Crypto Card Usage Across Chains **Data source:** [Crypto cards across all chains](https://dune.com/obchakevich/crypto-cards-all-chains) by obchakevich Before shipping [AutoHODL](https://autohodl.money), we wanted to get a basic sense of how people are actually using crypto cards today. AutoHODL is a round-up savings tool for crypto cards, similar to Acorns, but for crypto. It works by turning everyday card spending into automated savings, and it can also be used without a card. To ground that work, we looked at existing Dune dashboards to understand overall card usage. We didn’t independently verify the underlying data or run advanced calculations. From the data: - Total crypto card volume exceeded **$400M in November 2025**, up from **~$63M in November 2024**. - The top five cards by volume are **Rain, RedotPay, ether.fi, Cypher, and Holyheld**. - **Rain** accounts for a large share of total volume. - **Stablecoins dominate spending**, with **USDC emerging as the most commonly used asset** across both large and small card programs. ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/rkFhNu2z-e.png) *Monthly crypto card volume across all chains. Usage has grown more than 6× year-over-year.* ![Screenshot 2025-12-14 at 11.32.51](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/B1WC4_2zZg.png) *Volume by provider, showing a small number of cards accounting for most spend.* At this point, crypto cards appear to be used for more than occasional testing. The volumes suggest recurring, everyday spending. --- ## Rain Card: Scale and Stablecoins **Data source:** [Rain Card](https://dune.com/obchakevich/rain-card) by obchakevich Rain represents the highest-volume crypto card in the dataset. - Rain processed **~$240M** in card volume in November. - **USDC accounted for ~$200M** of that total. ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/H1KwrdnMWe.png) *Rain Card asset breakdown. The majority of spending volume is in USDC.* Chain usage is similarly concentrated: - **Ethereum** accounts for roughly **$172M** in volume. - **Polygon** follows with **~$39M**. ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/BkDtr_2G-x.png) *Rain Card volume by chain. Ethereum remains the primary settlement layer.* --- ## MetaMask Card: Smaller Volume, Concentrated Usage **Data source:** [MetaMask Card](https://dune.com/Marcov/metamask-card) by Marcov MetaMask Card operates at a very different point on the spectrum. - In November, MetaMask Card processed **$2.39M** in volume. - Over the same period, Rain processed **$248.73M**. While the difference in scale is large, the usage patterns are still informative. - **USDC is the most commonly spent asset** on MetaMask Card. ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/BJlQB_3MWg.png) *MetaMask Card asset breakdown, with USDC as the dominant spending asset.* - **Linea** is the most active chain for MetaMask Card usage. ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/SyKcbanGWx.png) *MetaMask Card usage by chain, with Linea leading.* - There are **just over 2,000 weekly active MetaMask cards on Linea**. ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/r17pZThf-l.png) *Weekly active MetaMask cards on Linea.* Compared to larger card programs, MetaMask Card has fewer users, but activity is more concentrated around a single chain and asset. This creates a different environment than high-volume cards like Rain. --- ## What This Suggests About Crypto Cards A few high-level observations stand out from the data: - **Crypto cards are being used at meaningful scale**, not just tested. - **Stablecoins are the default spending asset** across providers. - Larger programs optimize for volume and reliability. - Smaller programs tend to have tighter, more concentrated usage patterns. These differences matter depending on what someone is trying to build on top of crypto cards. --- ## AutoHODL AutoHODL ([autohodl.money](https://autohodl.money)) is a round-up savings tool for crypto cards that turns everyday spending into automated savings. ![ah-banner-new](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/H1abMpnM-g.png) *AutoHODL turns everyday crypto spending into automated savings.* - Try it today: https://autohodl.money - Launching with **MetaMask Card support on Linea**. - **Arc and additional Linea integrations** coming next. - Ranked **#1 by MetaMask** in *Smart Agents & Liquidity Automation*. - **Circle grantee** and Circle Alliance Program.
