## Meeting Info

This is the UK Carpentry Community space for the UK Carpentry instructors, helpers and workshop coordinators (or anyone involved in training tech to researchers in general and outside of the UK) to get to know each other better, update the commmunity about developments, discuss issues and ideas, and encourage collaboration.

During these meetings, we will be conforming to [The Carpentries Code of Conduct](https://docs.carpentries.org/policies/coc).

**Meeting schedule: meetings happen on 4th Monday each month, 16:00-17:00 UK time, BST (UTC+1) or GMT (UTC+0) depending on the time of the year**

#### Reflections on SSI Collaborations Workshop 2025
Last week was [CW25](https://www.software.ac.uk/workshop/collaborations-workshop-2025-cw25) at the University of Stirling. :sunny: :swimmer: :deciduous_tree:

Who attended from the Carpentries community?

- Aleks
- Aman
- Phil (1st CW!)
- Andrew Gait (Remote - 1st CW!)
- Remote experience: Generally pretty good - technical issues here and there but still great!
- Discussion session wasn't as smooth - people weren't audible

What activities were held and why were they of significance to the Carpentries?

- Automation of Carpentries workshop organisation by Colin Sauze and Janetta Steyn
- They're setting up TopicBox mailing list and will move to Carpentries Slack for future comms.
- [FAIR RS Course](https://github.com/carpentries-incubator/fair-research-software) update - Toby, Aleks, Aman, and Etienne will update material
- Will be transformed into "Good Research Software Practices" course
- Will be run in August by the Carpentries, and can eventually be offical SWC
- EDIA panel and theme at CW
- Was good to have it in the main session instead of a parallel track
- Very useful perspectives and overall really insightful

- From the Scottish government
- Interesting because it was different from the other keynote - but was maybe a little diplomatic?
- Would be interesting to see how it carries out in terms of areas outside of Scotland - Wales and England policies?

- Mini-workshop delivered successful
- Was well attended and got good feedback from the audience
- Big hack day team as well
- Had a v1.0 release for the framework!
- Also progress on the web app

- Annual report and have collection of repositories
- Project boards were quite helpful as well - we experimented with an "agile" hack day
