--- tags: Key-Documents --- # Punchlist ## General * Add navigation/outline numbers to Session chunks (i.e. 2.1 Attribute data) (I think either GN or BL has to do this?) * ~~Add nav links to outline (TDM)~~ * Add Glossary and Further Reading section (at end?) (I think either GN or BL has to do this?) ## Session 1 * ~~Write presentation notes (MH)~~ * ~~Add back dropdown titles (TDM)~~ * ~~Add "data" plural/singular/confusing note in a dropdown somewhere (TDM)~~ * ~~Feedback from teachers~~ * ~~It's important to look at the data behind the **mapp** (The human role in mapping, line 3) TYPO~~ * ~~Why was this data collected? What is the **datas et's agenda**? TYPO~~ * ~~put captions in format sent by Garrett (MH)~~ * ~~"What is a map?" section: fix the "data grammar" header!!!~~ * ~~Replace John Snow map with smaller file~~ * ~~Change title of course to Making Sense of Maps and Data~~ ## Session 2 * ~~Record geoJSON.io exercise (SL)~~ * ~~Write presentation notes (TDM)~~ * ~~Update "Introducing the LMEC public data portal" part (TDM)~~ * ~~Repurpose "Human bias in data" section as a Conclusion for Session 2 (TDM)~~ ~~* Where to put "styling" sketch, if anywhere? (**maybe before the joining sketch in session 2 section on joining**)~~ * ~~Coordinates and projections section: change "check yourself" to "Comprehension check"~~ * ~~Joins section: change "check yourself" to "Comprehension check"~~ * ~~Remove "non-response bias" from list of terms~~ * ~~Where to put full flow of humans-in-data-and-mapping sketch, if anywhere? (**maybe in Session 2 concluding thoughts???**)~~ * ~~Feedback from teachers~~ * ~~Types of feature data **Honestly, you lost me here, and I think just a tiny bit of reorganization would really help. I think the whole “a computer is not very smart” part could come earlier, because until I read that I didn’t really understand the purpose of the whole raster/vector thing. Coming from the previous page, where the data is just a list of states, that came out of left field. Then, I would go for “There are two types of feature data: raster and vector” and then define each one alongside the visual examples that follow. It’s hard to understand without the visuals and context.**~~ * ~~"In the stained-glass-world of vector data..." **This is the most helpful sentence about vector data on the page but it’s buried at the end. I would put this or a version of it earlier.**~~ * ~~Ideas for data you can draw: parks in Boston; neighborhoods; points of **interests** TYPO~~ * ~~GIS software can **these data** types; there are desktop programs like QGIS and web-based programs like Carto. TYPO~~ * put captions in format sent by Garrett * ~~Update screenshots in Introducing the Data Portal section* Attribute data page has a weird bug where it bounces back up to the top when you scroll down~~ * ~~Add images to geojson.io exercise~~ * ~~Add titles to "Show Mores" on Feature Data and Coordinates sections~~ * add excel to attribute data fie types and software ## Session 3 * ~~Major reorg and edit (GN + BL) * ~~Copy edit ~~ * ~~Put "Making your own metadata" as a "Read more"~~ * ~~Add in the "four ways to make a map" from Tess (see slack) to the "Further resources" section in final chunk~~ * ~~Remove "In class discussion" from final chunk~~ ## Style notes * "datasets" * Headers are Sentence case * Captions are Sentence case * Session titles are Title Case * First word after a colon: Should be capitalized * Include citation on every instance of an image (even if repeated) * earth is lower case * "Consider This" on asides that are discussion-question based
