# The Bok Center Gets a New Printer!
This is wonderful news.
Now what do we want and how can we configure our Build-Your-Own RICOH to be robust and worth the $$$?
## Step 1: Main Unit
|IMC3010| IMC3510|
|--|---|
|30 PPM | 35 PPM|
- Only difference really is just how many pages they can print out per minute
- Nothing else changes. Same set-up, same weight.
### TLDR
I'd get the IMC3510. We're printing a ton of material, especially when it comes to photos, we do not want the printer to be occupied since many people are often trying to print at the same time.
---
## Step 2: Paper Tray and Optional Accessories
|PB3320|PB3330|
|--|--|
|Provides up to 1,100 sheets|Provides up to 2,000 sheets|
|Can go up to 12"x18" size paper| Can only go up to A4|
- Can get (PB3320 OR PB3330) AND RT3050
- Basically option is between 3320 or 3330
### TLDR
I'd get the PB3320 alongisde the RT3050. RT3050 goes up to A4 sized sheets, so we wouldn't want a dupe of that with the PB3330 unless we were an office that would ONLY be printing A4 documents. We print posters, so it would be nice to have larger options available. There is a bit of a tradeoff with how many sheets the PB3320 provides, but it is fine considering that we can print on larger sheets.

## Step 3 : Output and Finishing Options
### Internal:
|BN3140|SR3310*|FD3020| SH3090|
|--|--|--|--|
|Output tray that separates fax and print from copy (when printing stuff out)|Multi position stapling and hole punch.|Can fold papers. |Shifts next print job so that it will be distinguishable from last print job|
|Works with all other internal elements|Does not combine with other external attachments|Does not require a finisher.||
### External:
|SR3320*|SR3330*|BU3100|
|--|--|--|
|Mostly for collating and stapling document sets|Allows for saddle stiched booklets. BOOKLETS. Has 3 outputs for stapling, booklets, and hole punching.|x|
|Multi-position stapling, hole punching, staple-less binding|Saddle-stiched booklets, |Required attachement for an exteral add-on|
### Optional
- Hole puncher only available with SR3310, SR3320, SR3330
### TLDR
- Will we be making folded materials? Brochures? Booklets? If this is the case, then perhaps an attachment that allows for book-binding and brochure making is the case. However, I think our printer will mostly be for printing collated pages rather than making booklets.
- Combo 1: BN3140, FD3020, SR3320, PU3080
- Pros: Allows for folding of pages and normal collated printing. Has optional hole-punch. Allows for stapling, staple-less stapling!
- Cons: No saddle stiched booking.
- Combo 2: BN3140, SR3310, PU3100
- Pros: Simple and good for printing pages, has optional hole-punching mechanic
- Cons: No external finisher, so no additional things can be done with this. We have enough office space to support an external finisher.
- Combo 3: BN3150, FD3020, SR3330, PU3080
- Pros: Folds, makes stiched books, brochures, hole-punch, stapling, etc
- Cons: Unsure if this combination even allows for regular printing. **It looks like it does? But IDK**

## Step 4: Print / Scan Options
|IEEE|OCR Unit Type M52|IPDS Unity Type M52|Postscript 3 Unit Type M52|
|--|--|--|--|
|Allows device to connect to wifi|Embeds invisible texts on scanned images of PDFs and enables users to search PDF files by keywords. Searchable PDF files can be sent to email, folders and external media (USB). Supports blank page removal when scanning|bi-directional host printing. **Don't exactly know what this means**|Recommended for printing more complex color and PDF files.|
### TLDR
- We can combine any variation of these.
- What'd I'd reccommend...
- Postscript. We print a lot of complex color pages via Adobe Services
- IEEE: We want our device to connect to internet. FUNDAMENTAL FUNCTION.
- IPDS would be cool if we actually use the scanner feature. Unsure if thats something that's commonly done here.
## Step 5: Fax Options
|Fax Option Type M52|G3 Interface Unit Type M52|Fax Memory Unit Type M52|
|--|--|--|
|Main fax option|Adds additional fax line.|Increases memory and resolution of fax|
### TLDR
- If we use fax, these options would be helpful, especially Fax Option Type M52 initially.
---
## Step 6: Controller and Options
- All hinge off of selecting Color Controller. Cannot do this if we have the IEEE, etc.
### TLDR
- Seems to only be helpful if we are using the printer as a stand-alone printer not to be connected to wi-fi / faxing.
## Step 7: Security + Accessories
