# Ai Beginner Guide: Making Peas

## Goals
* Learning the basics of Ai
* Prototyping how students might find Ai useful
* Prototyping the process of making graphics (such as peas) to compliment student research papers (such as on genetics)

## Setting Up Your Workspace
1. Open up Ai (Adobe Illustrator)
> protip: use cmd + space to open up the search bar
2. Select **letter**
> Since we are just practicing, the paper size isn't that important
## Orientation

**Left**: Toolkit
**Middle**: Workspace
**Right** Properties, Layers, etc
Familiarize yourself with your toolkit by hovering your mouse over each tool. Such as:
* Selection tool (V) selects entire objects
* Rectangle tool (M) creates squares and rectangles
> Click on tools with a corner arrow to view more subtools
* For example... Ellipse Tool (L)
* Gradient tool (G) creates gradual blends between colors
## Make a singular pea
### Step 1: Make a circle
Select the Ellipse Tool (L) to create a circle.
> there will be pink guidelines that will help you make a perfect circle

> You can use the mousepad to move around/zoom in.
1. Select Fill > Select a green shade of color
2. Select Stroke > Select 0 pt
