It was established on June 16, 2009 by community member citricsquid and has continued to be managed by the community and with Mojang Studios having no involvement in the day-to-day operations (although certain Mojang Studios employees have accounts on the site). In September 2010, Redstone Wire Ltd. was formed[1] to manage the site, and on November 15, 2010 the site was purchased by Curse. Curse was the owner and operator of the site until it was purchased by MagicFind in June 2019. The forum software used is called Cobalt and was developed in-house by Curse. The front page news is run by Sacheverell with videos from the MCSpotlights YouTube Channel and the Curse YouTube channel.
