* Please note: Before being approved for access, you will need to provide a HUIT Billing ID. If you don't already have one, please fill out and submit [this online form](https://billing.huit.harvard.edu/portal/allusers/newcustomer) for HUIT Finance: HUIT Billing Form for New Customers.
* check with your department to see if you having a HUIT billing ID before requesting. It takes the form of "B#####"
* First, [create a team](https://portal.apis.huit.harvard.edu/create-a-team#top)
* You will need to name your team and provide a description.
* Then, you can add "members" to your team, with the following tiers available:

* Then, [create an app](https://portal.apis.huit.harvard.edu/register-an-app#top) associated with that team and request an API key
* You need to have a name and description for your app. Through this app, you can request multiple different API keys.
* Approval can take up to 48 hours
* an email will be sent from HUIT with a link to the [H{API} Platform Utility Application](https://utility.apis.huit.harvard.edu/ui/access)
* this is where you will input your HUIT billing code from above
* Keys will then appear in this terminal. Here is [a guide](https://portal.apis.huit.harvard.edu/access-api-keys#top) for viewing these keys.
