As a concerned American citizen and based on a recent chain of events, I am submitting this formal complaint regarding conduct by Speaker of the House Mike Johnson that I believe violates his oath of office and multiple provisions of the House Code of Official Conduct. Specifically, I am concerned about his apparent obstruction of Congressional proceedings related to the Jeffrey Epstein case — resulting in the denial of due process for victims of sexual abuse, including minors.
On or around July 22nd and 23rd, 2025, several credible reports in major news media reported that Speaker Johnson presided over the abrupt closure or refusal to allow Congressional session proceedings expected to address matters related to the Epstein sexual abuse scandal. His actions — whether procedural or political — effectively denied victims of child sexual abuse their expeditious right to be heard and for justice to be pursued through the appropriate oversight mechanisms of Congress.
This conduct represents a gross ethical failure and sends a dangerous message — that political protection of powerful individuals can take precedence over justice for victims, while giving justice and law and order a very bad name. It raises the serious question: if Speaker Johnson’s own daughter had been groomed and abused as a minor, would he have acted in the same way?
Additionally, Speaker Johnson’s public ally, Pam Bondi — former Florida Attorney General and public advocate for justice and child protection — appears to have abdicated her legal and ethical duties to the people she represents. Rather than using her authority to support accountability and protect victims, she has remained silent or complicit in the denial of due process, undermining public trust in the rule of law.
Therefore, I respectfully urge the Office of Congressional Ethics to investigate whether Speaker Johnson’s conduct constitutes a violation of House ethical standards and whether further review by the House Ethics Committee is warranted, like I think it is.
