What: Sharing of work experience, graduate school experience and the things that had happened after graduation in a Human Library format.

A Human Library is an event where students get to “borrow” people for a conversation, providing a relaxing atmosphere for people to know where . This serves an opportunity for participants to "borrow" alumni to explore post-graduation life and how did EPD shape and prepare the alumni respectively.

As part of the program, we would need to have a biography of our books so that students will be able to see who they will be “borrowing”. The bio should provide some idea of what sort of conversation you would like to have with the students.

**Participating alumnus can choose to send in their most recent CV/portfolio/personal website (if they are busy/are at a loss of what they can talk about that day) or/and a few sentences about themselves.** The information provided by alumni will eventually be made available on the event landing page.

## Human Library Content

### Prior polling
Prior polling among EPD class of 2020 students have shown that about 25 students in this batch are interested to go for such an event. A total of 29 students indicated that they would like to listen about the following topics in descending order of preference:
1. Product Engineer
2. Healthcare
3. Graduate Studies (overseas)
4. Graduate Studies (local)
5. Research & Development
6. Govt/SG-based Government Linked Companies (GovTech/CAG etc)

### Content
Sharing of Post-SUTD life experience. It can be about work, graduate studies, travels, or life in general. Presenters can also talk about how their time in SUTD had helped them in post-SUTD life.

### Tone
Both participants and "books" should come in with an open mind.

- More structured (10mins, with 3 books.) Finish by 7.30pm, chat until 8.30pm.

## Recap on previous year's Alumni Sharing Session
### Summary of Event
- Event was held in the VIP room, freshmores were also invited.
- There were few attendees from the class of 2020, perhaps due to insufficient publicity.
- Seniors who are graduating soon went there to find jobs.
- Freshmores had feedback saying that perhaps it could have been stated that this event is more for seniors and that such sharing sessions gave an interesting insight on what the working world is like and what jobs people can do as an EPD graduate.
### Reflections
- The VIP room is good for networking events where people can have a one-to-one heartfelt talk with the alumnus. However, the VIP Room had also made it difficult to conduct good sharing.
- Some seniors were trying to find jobs and this event presented a good opportunity for them to gain insider information and backdoor information.

EPD Node would like to invite you back to SUTD to participate in our annual EPD Alumni Sharing session. The EPD Alumni Sharing session aims to build up an EPD alumni network to collect feedback from the alumni to improve our curriculu and to also provide a platform for EPD students to engage with Alumni to provide help and insight for the upcoming graduation.

This year, EPD Node will be doing this sharing session in the form of a human library. A Human Library is an event where students get to “borrow” people for a conversation and we would like to invite alumni from various different backgrounds to participate as "books" for the event.

The details of the event is as follows:

**Time**: 6pm-8pm

As part of the program, we would need to have a biography of our books as students will be able to see who they will be “borrowing”. The bio should provide some idea of what sort of conversation you would like to have with the students. The bio should generally be about post-SUTD life experience. It can be about work, graduate studies, travels, or life in general. "Books" can also talk about how their time in SUTD had helped them in post-SUTD life.

I’ve included some examples of SUTD Professors’ bios that took part in previous iterations of the Human Library in SUTD.

1. Discover the philosophy behind the MIT/SUTD collaboration by meeting the man in charge of it! Prof X will be leaving for the US next week so this might be the last chance to catch him!

2. Started working-life as a journalist in the Today paper but decided to step into the academic world. Now he is exploring translation as a career. Come hear his journey on transforming the self

3. Discover his experience as a senior Engineer and come hear what the future of the engineering curriculum might be like from the man trying to change the way it is taught
