Park Ji-sung (42), a legendary Korean soccer star, reacted absurdly to being mentioned on the nomination list for the general election of the People's Power in April next year.
In an interview shortly after the "12th JS Foundation Talent Student Donation Ceremony" held at Suwon World Cup Stadium on Monday, Park officially denied rumors that he would run for the general election that were recently reported. Park is the chairman of JS Foundation, a charitable foundation that was established in 2011.
Earlier on the 11th, the Munhwa Ilbo reported that "the power of the people is considering recruiting Park Ji-sung and Jang Mi-ran ahead of the general election in April next year."
Park Ji-sung is a representative sports star born by Suwon, who started playing soccer when he was in Sannam Elementary School in Suwon and grew up as a national soccer player through Suwon Technical High School.
When asked about running for the general election, Park Ji-sung replied, "I have no intention (in politics), so I was a little surprised that such a story came out when I came to Korea for work because my residence is not yet in Korea," adding, "But I personally don't think that will happen."
