# [EVENT SIMULATION] CodeDay Hyderabad - July 9 - July 10 2022 **Use this template to fill out a report about your event. You don't need to include all the sections offered below they are there as a guide, just delete the ones that aren't applicable or add new ones if you feel like there is something missing.** **Remember you can use any markdown features, so feel free to add links to the event & of course you can use emoji! :sparkles:** ## Attendance :dancers: *Was it well attended? Was there a diverse attendance in terms of gender, socio-economic class, race? Who was attending - students/professionals/a mix?* The event attendees consisted of high school students (age 13-18) with good mix of gender and age groups. A majority of demographic was observed to school-based registration i.e more students reported from common schools than individuals. Along with the participating attendees, there were few teachers and parents present at the venue as mentors of event helping the team throughout the event. ## Venue :school: *Any comments on the venue, did it work well? Include links to the location if you like.* The venue is a startup workspace with great logistics ready at disposal. A janitor was always present for clean up, 3 seperate wifi networks for faster distribution. 30 seater halls x3, mini breakout rooms x15 and a waiting hall. The venue team was very helpful throughout the event and provided additional security overnight. ## Planning vs Implementation :paperclip: *Did the schedule change? Or run over?* *Did you have enough swag? Did everything get to you on time and did anything not get taken by your attendees?* *Also think about including thoughts on your budget (if you were involved in this side of the event), did it work well? Was there any room for better cost saving? Anything that wasn't worth it?* *Were there any additions?* *You can also use this section to note anything that wasn't in your original issue.* *This might not be the case, but it's useful to note if you needed to run out and buy something to support the event or order food or anything outside of what you expected to deliver - even if that is not related to purchasing things. For example if you ran an extra workshop or did something extra to help out the organising team.* The event had enough stickers for everyone. T-shirts were low in number to be given to winners so team decided to give few as giveaways during workshop. (Yet some were still left, these will be used in future events) Extra food was ordered for midnight snack (milkshakes and chips) once team estimated that attendees seem to enjoy the snacks right after lunch. Emergency funds were always on standby by CodeDay. The schedule was slightly behind due to attendee delay due to bad weather and during closing ceremony due to multiple submissions by teams. (which is a plus!). We were prepared to be overbooked but due to no-show we observed the optimal number of participants the venue could hold. ## Positives :+1: *The good bits - A bullet point list is effective here* - Inclusive and fun experience for high school students. - Great way to get high school students started in coding - Enough food - Great talks - Participants loved the icebreaker event ## Negatives :-1: *The not-so-good bits - A bullet point list is effective here* - Schedule - Check In flow - Team building activity ## Feedback from Attendees :speech_balloon: *Feel free to use quotes, lists, screen shots - whatever makes it easiest to share the info (please make sure you have permission to use a person's comments).* *Tell us how you got the feedback too - was it done during the event at the end, comments made on social media/community channels or did you put out any formal feedback forms etc.?* “CodeDay Hyderabad was an absolute blast to be a part of; bringing an inquisitive and outstanding environment to high schoolers and allowing me to use my volunteering skills to meet magnificent individuals has really boosted as well as helped me to gain my confidence and influenced me for getting ahead of my life.” -Vee Gayathri “An experience of a kind. fruitful 24 hours but was indeed an effort and coordination of more 2 months. It brought us together for a shared goal to give the best experience to all the attendees and it ended up being the best experience we ever had. fun, moments and memories:)” -Sneha Reddy ## What projects did students make with the GitHub Student Developer Pack? *Did attendees use tools from the Pack? We're curious how students are using the GitHub Student Developer Pack * Most of the students could not utilize GitHub Student Developer Pack as they did not own GitHub account of had the knowledge of GitHub. The team decided to skip this part (due to time constraints) and focus on teaching and building via Kodu GameLab and Replit to save time and give a good first impression to technology to students. ## Social Media Drop *Include links here to any posts about the event & your involvement* [codeday_hyderabad Instagram](https://instagram.com/codeday_hyderabad) ## Photos *You can embed any images here - see the [markdown guide](https://guides.github.com/features/mastering-markdown/) for how to do this* ![](https://i.imgur.com/eQwhBIY.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/69gk0X4.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/eWFXYha.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/ctBLzJV.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/aXc4p4Q.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/2TCvqSO.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/rELRR0X.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/AM1HcfD.jpg) All photos [here]([https://photos.app.goo.gl/frBb3X2sB7ZZ7y9g7](https://photos.app.goo.gl/frBb3X2sB7ZZ7y9g7)) ## Summary :thought_balloon: *Use this section to give your personal overview of the event and how this went for you as a Campus Expert. Would you attend again? Did people talk to you about the program? What kind of vibes did you get for the community?* As the lead organizer I liked how smoothly the event went without any issues. Post event feedback from participant, organizers and guest speakers was very positive. The venue sponsors were also happy with the event and encouraged future collaborations for the same.
