# MedDict-VinUni User's Manual

This is the user's manual of MedDict-VinUni Project. This manual comes up with usage for 03 modules:

## MedDict-VinUni Website

### Prerequisite
Ensure your devices are connected to the internet before accessing the Medical Dictionary.
**Suggested Devices:** Desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones with modern web browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge.

### Usage
1. Visit the official website: https://meddict-vinuni.com to search for medical terms.


2. In the search bar, type one or more words related to the medical term or condition you are looking for.


You can browse the suggestion under the search bar. See the definition of the word by clicking into the suggestion, or fill the search bar with your word.


You can redirect the website to Wikipedia/Google Search page of the word.

3. Furthermore, you can switch the source language from English-Vietnamese to Vietnamese-English by selecting the dropdown button in the left of search bar.



## MedDict-VinUni Google Chrome Plugin

### Installation

**Notes:** The extension should work for every Chromium-based browser: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, etc. However, we only tested it on Google Chrome. If you find any issues, please raise an issue at this [repo.

2. Click `Add to Chrome` and let's the rest of the work for Google Chrome do :+1:

### Usage

#### Searching

You can select the text (highlighting it). Then the plugin will do the search for you. Moreover, you don't need to specify the source language. Let's MedDict plugin do the :sparkles: magic for you!


#### Suggestion

When a medical term search yields no results, users can click the red "Suggest" button to contribute a new term to the database. After our host receives and verifies the suggestion, the button will change to blue, confirming users' successful contributions.


## MedDict-VinUni Admin Dashboard

### Prerequisite

Ensure your devices are connected to the internet before accessing the Medical Dictionary.
**Suggested Devices:** Desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones with modern web browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge.

### Usage

Visit the admin dashboard (Google Spreadsheet of MedDict VinUni Project), as usual


#### Modification

You can modify the spreadsheet as usual. Please fill in completely 4 columns of each word: `eng`, `vie`, `eng_type`, `vie_type`. `illustration` is an optional field, for the image link associated with the word.

#### Update to the database

You can visit the sheet `update_cache` to view the changed words.


Click `Update to MedDict DB` will send a notification to the admins of the database if you are managers.


Or, update to the database if you are the admins.


Click `Yes`, and the plugin will do the rest for you :smiley:

#### Pulling Suggestions

You can also pulling user's suggestion words from the Spreadsheet. Visit `Suggestion` sheet, and click `Pull Suggestion from Users` to do the task.


You can click the `Resolved` box to remove the entries.
