# Intensity Credit Events System (ICES) ## Abstract Random events are a part of daily life on SS13 that are intended to frankly, give the crew something to do. Life on the space station isn't supposed to be without its dangers and challenges, and random events are part of that. Random events can be spawned by a subsystem or manually through admin intervention ("random" also known as "bussing") Adapted for Skyrat from /tg/ station's (hereafter TG) random events system, ICES schedules and runs these events. ## Goals * Achieve an acceptable balance of chaos/disaster on the station for the Skyrat playerbase. * Provide staff extra functionality to curate/manage random events (compared to TG.) ## Non-Goals * Cause the station to call the emergency shuttle early due to too many destructive events * Cause player fatigue from too many events (too chaotic) * Clash with Dynamic (another events system) * Player feedback that the station isn't interesting due to being too peaceful. --- Based on a configurable timer, ICE runs a random event after going through various precondition checks. Potential events have three variables: * Weight * Intensity * Maximum occurrances ## Alternatives * TG random events system * Chaos random events/voting system * Migrate everything to Dynamic ## Potential Changes
