# Nouns x ETHDenver Recap Summary Link to prop: https://nouns.wtf/vote/495 # Nouns funds Code ## Description from proposal - what was planned Beginning with an immersive educational and networking journey centered around Nouns and Prophouse. This inaugural session enhances awareness of Nouns, offering a direct line for builders to engage, ask questions, and network with active contributors within the Nouns ecosystem. We will also be hosting a 1 ETH BUIDLer LIVE Prop House Round to teach developers how easy it can be to build and get funded by Nouns. ## Goals The goals from the Nouns funds Code event was to engage with the Nouns community ## The Execution - what actually happened * Originally set for 6pm-10pm, we shifted the night to 730pm to allow for stages to finish presenting and not take away from the hackathon core content itself. * We had over 150 people attend Nouns funds Code (50 pizzas were eaten within 30 minutes!) * During planning, we were supposed to have QR codes around our activation space to encourage new members to join Farcaster, but were asked by event organizers to not heavily push Nouns activations as a non-paid sponsor (we were given activation space for free) when a large CEX sponsor became upset that we received preferential treatment. * Nouns folk who had committed to attending this event to support builders did not show up outside of operations team which was unfortunate. (This was most likely because this event was set at the same time as the PizzaDAO event in the Spork Castle) ## Wins * Over 150 people attended Nouns funds Code * Nouns is being added to [Tollan Worlds](https://www.tollan.io/#story) as a thank you for introducing them to the Nouns community * We had participation from Wintermute, A16Z, BUIDLThon judges, and other parties to chat with hackathon participants and gauge their hackathon builds and provide feedback on market viability of their projects (Quite a few spicy convos between VCs + first time founders, was really fun to hear these convos) ## Lessons learned * Sponsors take priority at ETHDenver (which is a given) and we are thankful for the BUIDLthon supporting, but a bit disappointed that a large sponsor chose to request us to remove any signage * Judges were extremely useful in this event as they already had existing relationships with hackers and provide a lot of insights to builders from either being previous participants or full time in the blockchain industry. * If Nouns is going to ETHDenver in the future, planning for hackathon should start in December and we've been asked if we wanted a deeper role in the hackathon through mentorship, judging, or anything else our community is interested in for 2025. # Nouns funds Creators ## Description from proposal Youth on Record is an organization dedicated to empowering young people from under-resourced communities through education, music, and community programs. We are hosting a side event at this venue to have a space for Nouners and Nouns-curious folks to gather and connect over cocktails and chill vibes, while Nounish art is showcased around the venue. We will be also be hosting some live physical art creation, and a live Basepaint contribution section, while educating attendees on how they can potentiall seek funding from Nouns to pursue their creative endeavours. ## Goals * Provide a gathering space for Nouns members to meet up and have a night filled with music, art, and community. * Introduce new members of the ETHDenver community and Farcaster community to Nouns. ## The Execution * Two weeks before event, we lost contact with Youth on Record and were thankful that Will was able to activate his network and secure Mercury Cafe - one of the most iconic and culturally significant venues in Denver. * Denver Walls hosted a live-painting experience for attendees to commemorate the evening and have fun. * Brettpaints (insert link to warpcast and X) joined as the local resident artist * Leo Pastel performed a live show on stage * Free food and beverages throughout the evening * At full capacity throughout the evening ## Wins * Activating local artists and creators in a venue like Mercury Cafe created a welcoming environment for the community to come together and celebrate Nouns funds Creators. * We created a space where everyone felt welcome and safe * Lasting art piece was created by the artist group that attendees were able to collaborate on * A decent portion of attendees did not know the depth of the nouns community and were able to learn about new projects within the collective ## Lessons learned * Venue was larger than the capacity we booked. Lesson learned: next time we either size down the venue or increase capacity. # Nouns funds Community ## Description from proposal - what was planned During this event, Nouns contributors dedicate their time to mentoring groups of builders, guiding them through the specifics of Prophouse ideation and educating them on crafting compelling proposals. This gathering is important to instill in builders a sense of partnership with the broader Nouns community, emphasizing the support and resources. The event also features a showcase, offering a window into the diverse communities that have flourished under the patronage of Nouns DAO and the significant impacts they've made. ## Goals ## The Execution - what actually happened * ## Wins ## Lessons learned * Events shouldn't be planned on the night before submission deadlines. Hackers were busy with final builds of their presentations and wanted to spend the time completing their projects # PizzaDAO Sponsoring ## Description from proposal - what was planned PizzaDAO are up to their usual shenounigans. They have rented the historic Sports Castle – ETHDenver’s location for its first five years and have invited Nouns to particpate as a sponsor and by integrating this Proposal team into their efforts. They're throwing “Pizza Castle,” a giant pizza party with 500+ attendees. PizzaDAO events attract a nounish audience and a perfect intro to the other upcoming nounish events for ETHDenver. ## Goals ## The Execution ## Wins ## Lessons learned # Vending Machine ## Description from proposal We have access to an onchain-enabled vending machine at the main ETH Denver site, displaying a myriad of free-to-claim nounish products, including custom-designed Nounish merch by Frankie Colamarino, paper and plastic Noggles, sticker packs and more, all available for free (one per person with some social gating, explained below.) When attendees scan the QR code on the machine, they will be redirected to a campaign landing page (CLP). On the CLP, users will have the opportunity to: a) Mint a Free Nouns x ETH Denver artwork on Zora b) Claim Nounish products for free from the vending machine by completing easy social unlocks such as retweeting the campaign post on X and Farcaster, and joining the /nouns channel on Farcaster. c) Join a dedicated Telegram group chat to get in touch with Nouners and Contributors at ETHDenver and keep up to date on our events. ## Goals * Distribute nounish merch * Pilot a crypto enabled vending machine experience * Sell chocolate bars and donate ## The Execution The vending machine was located in the B2B area carrying t-shirts, noggles and attendees were generally very delighted to spot it.p ## Wins * +340 builders joined the telegram channel to claim free merch * Attendees shared positive sentiment when claiming NFT and merch despite a choppy user journey from mint to claim. ## Lessons learned * Product presentation in the vending machine wasn't considered when creating merch and selecting other nouns merchandising – Lesson learned: more thoughtful product packaging required for all products. * User journey was difficult; minting on mobile phones is still not a fun experience * While merch was available for free for those who minted the NFT during the event, attendees spent USD and crypto on noggles, merch and drinks – Lessons learned: with a balanced merchandising for free and paid products and central location, the vending machine can be a substantial revenue driver. * Not all products are good for vending machine distribution, e.g. pins – Lessons learned: Consider upsizing packaging for smaller products # Chocolate Bars – Golden Ticket ## Description from proposal Throughout the multi-day conference, we will be selling the bars for $3 at our BUIDLathon and offsite events. Two of our team members have strong ties with conference organizers and we plan to create as much buzz as possible around the Golden Ticket Activation. All proceeds from the bars will be donated to the Juicebox fund for Alexey Pertsev and Roman Storm's Legal Defense. ## Goals * Raise funds to donate to the Juicebox fund for Alexey Pertsev and Roman Storm's legal Defence * Create product desire for golden ticket ## The Execution * The chocolate bars where available in the vending machine for purchase. However there was an error in the OS and the NFT that allowed to claim free merch, which set the price for the chocolate to 0 USD too. Only few were sold. * People who bought the chocolate bar had to scan the QR code to sign up to the golden ticket raffle. Only few participated. ![IMG_5156 (1)](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/HkMl4M7JR.jpg) ## Wins * created product desire to draw golden ticket ## Lessons learned * People thought that the golden ticket was actually in the chocolate bar; Lessons learned: when doing a golden ticket activation, stick to the original story and add golden tickets into chocolate bars. * The golden ticket activation was poorly promoted which resulted in little demand to purchase the chocolate bars; Lessons learned: these type of hero activations require extra promotion on-site, e.g. displays, flyers, etc. * Due to the size of the chocolate bars in the vending machine, they where not well presented – Lesson learned: When distributing chocolate bars in vending machine, prioritize product presentation.
