Analysis of usecases for combining SD-JWT and VCs

This is an attempt to anayse existing mecahnisms, e.g. EBSI and other implementations to understand the needs of combining SD-JWT with W3C VC for Type1 configurations.

Questions being looked at are:

  1. Should we just use SD-JWT for Type1 issuer configurations?
  2. Is there a need to use W3C VC at all?
  3. Do we need a new spec for SD-JWT VC?

What EBSI has done is they have embedded W3C-VC into the data field of JWT. This doesn't look like a standard spec. So when I as a holder request a credential, EBSI issues a credentials as JWT-VC. The issue here is SD wouldnt be possible, as far as I understand

If you are able to help flesh out a semantic scheme (scheme catalogue) for SD-JWT for the use cases in EWC, please come forward. Peter already started on DTC, but there’s a serious need of technical domain experts on this for travel, payments and ODI (related to the EWC scenarios). This will be coordinated later on, but right now we need this to verify how we can work with SD-JWT (and convince others of our needs).
