# Helmholtz AI Heads Meeting 2022/07/26
Present: Peter, Markus, Stefan
## minutes
1) As Angela mentioned, main discussion point would have been the presentation of the survey results in the report. I have drafted something there, please comment. We also propose to show all current results for completeness in an appendix, which I drafted here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1taQ78uxjF9jwURks2-ElTP1ucyYQANTrWjnrBZZiFW8/edit#
(do not mind the formatting and editing, we will get professional one)
- MG provides an account of the idea behind the eval report:
- explains how the growth is considered to happen
- each consultant team should receive 2 more FTEs (one for industry projects, one for operations/teaching)
- `The new AI PhD programme is calculated with 6 FTE (€58k each) per unit and associated expenses for equipment and travel (€4k each).`
- one supervisor will be from local unit
- one supervisor from collaborating research center
- SK: nice to continue long running vouchers
- industry liaison:
- request by BMBF
- challenge will be NOT to compete with Fraunhofer
- new funding will only become available with new PAC agreement between HGF and BMBF -> expected by 2024
- plots from the survey:
- PS: when is the deadline?
- PS: is there a direct (read-only) link to the results?
- should we highlight the larger projects?
- PS: good idea, but smaller vouchers are also important to supprot the median/mean researcher
- SK: good to underline idea about lighthouse vouchers for future (as discussed)
- PS: these projects would be very much the same as what the escience center is doing
- do we know who is in the committee?
- no
2) A second point from me, is that we are currently looking for:
tutors for our 'Zero2Hero XAI course' (Course dates Sep 22 14:00-18:00)! All material will be prepared and introduced in due time, just have to guide students through the notebooks.
Mentors for our data challenge (Image classification+ domain transfer). We will host a small Helpdesk on Gathertown from Sep 15 - Sep 22, and are looking for mentors with some experience, that could show up 1h per day roughly, to guide participants.
Would be great to have consultants from your teams participate in those efforts. Please let us know who could help!
- PS: already shared with my team
- PS: will share with the ig-teaching channel
3) How do we push our comment on our learnings of 2 years of consultancy further?
- authorship: for people that don't contribute to the paper, they shouldn't be on the authorlist
- MG: dedicate 2-3 working days as a chunk to write the paper and ship for reviews
- co-working planned:
- Sep 6+7: 1pm-5pm
- we sync regularly during this time
- if people have commitments during the time allocated, this is fine
- what is important:
- we agree who does what
- we write the text
- we sync where we are and if problems appear
4) people are mostly off in August
5) walking sessions performed by HZDR
- went well
- people didn't overrun us
- good to meet in person and talk about data
