Novel view synthesis can be used to enable re-cinematography, create content for virtual reality, or synthesize scenes to improve computer vision algorithms. Broadly, the view synthesis methods can be classified as Depth Image-Based Rendering (DIBR) and Image-Based Rendering (IBR) methods. In this presentation, I will provide a comprehensive analysis of both approaches, focusing on their effectiveness for immersive video transmission.
