The missions are typically managed by the human operator, with the use of wireless communication channel to receive video stream from the onboard drone’s camera and transmit appropriate control signals. Although this setup is currently widely used, it has several important drawbacks. Therefore, many researchers around the world are working in the field of drones to make them autonomous, i.e. to let them fly and make decisions on their own. This talk presents the works in this topic, which are held in the Embedded Vision Systems Group at the AGH University of Krakow, Poland.
