### Q: Who is the free MOOC on Mastering Web3 designed for?
A: The MOOC is designed for anyone with an interest in blockchain, digital currency, divergence of emerging technologies, or Web3. There are no prerequisites in terms of degrees or formal education. However, basic computer literacy is recommended to help participants navigate the MOOC material effectively.

### Q: What topics are covered in the MOOC?
A: The MOOC covers a comprehensive range of topics designed to provide both foundational knowledge and practical skills in blockchain and Web3 technologies. Participants will learn the fundamentals of Web3, Bitcoin, and Ethereum, including setting up wallets like Electrum and MetaMask, conducting Bitcoin transactions, and interacting with Ethereum dApps.
Practical skills in digital transactions and security are also emphasized, such as exploring hardware wallets (e.g., Ledger, Trezor), configuring multi-signature wallets, managing keys with Shamir Secret Sharing, optimizing transaction fees, and utilizing privacy tools like Zcash and Monero. The MOOC delves into Bitcoin’s mining and UTXO model, Ethereum’s smart contracts and Proof of Stake, as well as scalability solutions. Additionally, participants will explore blockchain applications in decentralized finance (DeFi) by engaging with protocols like Aave and Uniswap, providing liquidity, staking tokens, and deploying smart contracts on testnets.

### Q: Is the MOOC self-paced or instructor-led?
A: The MOOC is designed to be flexible, with a recommended 12-week curriculum to help students follow a structured learning path. However, understanding that many students have jobs or other commitments, the MOOC can also be completed at a self-paced speed. Students should note, however, that the final exam has a fixed deadline, and no extensions are granted, so it is essential to plan accordingly to avoid missing it.

### Q: Is the free MOOC on Mastering Web3 part of the Master’s in Blockchain and Digital Currency program?
A: Free MOOC is the first course of the world’s leading Master’s program in Blockchain and Digital Currency. Students of the Master's program are assigned a different examination path than the rest of the MOOC students. Master's degree students will be able to receive 10 ECTS if they successfully pass mandatory and graded activities as well as a final essay-based exam.

## Prerequisites for Joining

### Q: Do I need to apply for the MOOC?
A: No application is needed. Simply fill in the registration form here: https://www.unic.ac.cy/iff/education-and-training/free-MOOCs-moocs/mastering-web3-blockchain-cryptocurrencies-nfts-and-the-metaverse/ and you will be taken to our learning platform, Moodle.

### Q: Do I need to pay for the MOOC?
A: The MOOC is free for everyone.

### Q: Are there any age restrictions?
A: There are no strict age restrictions; however, we recommend that younger students participate under the guidance of their legal guardians, as we cannot moderate all discussions in the online platforms. Additionally, please note that students who complete the final quiz will have their name, last name, and grade published on-chain with their certificate. If a legal guardian does not consent to this, we must be informed in advance. If you are under 18 or enrolling a minor, please let us know.

### Q: Do I need any prior knowledge to join the MOOC?
A: No prior knowledge is required to join the MOOC. It is open to anyone interested in blockchain, Web3, and related technologies. Basic computer literacy is recommended to navigate the MOOC materials effectively.

### Q: Are there specific technical skills required?
A: No specific technical skills are required. The MOOC is beginner-friendly, and all necessary skills will be introduced and developed as part of the curriculum.

### Q: Do I need to have a crypto wallet or any blockchain experience?
A: You do not need to have prior blockchain experience or a crypto wallet to join the MOOC. However, you will learn how to set up and use wallets like Electrum and MetaMask as part of the practical lessons.

### Q: What materials or tools are needed for the MOOC?
A: You will need access to a computer with an internet connection. The MOOC will guide you in setting up digital wallets and using tools like Electrum, MetaMask, and others to interact with blockchain applications. All additional resources and instructions will be provided during the MOOC.

## During the MOOC

### Q: I just joined but I cannot see the study material.
A: The material is uploaded a few days prior to the beginning of the MOOC. Kindly note that you will be able to access the material once you complete the Pre-MOOC Survey.

### Q: How often will the live sessions be held for the "Mastering Web3 MOOC," and where can I find more information about the schedule?

A: The MOOC includes one live session per week. Additional details about the schedule and weekly activities will be shared at the beginning of each semester in the News Forum section on UNIC’s learning platform - Moodle.

### Q: How are the lessons delivered?
A: The lessons are delivered through a combination of pre-recorded video lectures, reading materials, and weekly live sessions. These are all accessible through the Moodle platform.

### Q: How is the learning progress tracked?
A: Learning progress is tracked through quizzes, practical assignments, and participation in the weekly live sessions. Students can also monitor their progress on Moodle, which provides a clear overview of completed and pending tasks.

### Q: Are there interactive activities or hands-on exercises?
A: Yes, the MOOC includes interactive activities.

### Q: Are the interactive exercises mandatory?
A: The 12 interactive exercises are available, one per week, and are optional for MOOC students. The goal is to equip you with extra knowledge and hands-on assignments, but they are not graded, and participation is not mandatory.

### Q: What support is available for students during the MOOC?
A: Support is provided through the MOOC forum on Moodle, where students can ask questions and interact with instructors and peers. Additionally, live sessions offer an opportunity for real-time interaction and clarification of any doubts.

### Q: Is the "Mastering Web3" MOOC fully online, or are there in-person classes in Cyprus?

A: The MOOC as well as the MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency and Blockchain Academic Certification Programs are all fully online, meaning there are no in-person classes in Cyprus. All materials and sessions are accessible online with a flexible structure.

### Q: Are the MOOCs that you offer the same as the Blockchain Academic Certifications?
A: The MOOCs provide a comprehensive understanding of blockchain and Web3, offering a solid foundation. However, the **Blockchain Academic Certifications** are more formal and provide in-depth knowledge, with a greater focus on academic rigor.

## MOODLE

### Q: How do I stop receiving forum notifications?

A: Click on the top right section (your profile) and then click on preferences. Direct link https://courses.unic.ac.cy/user/preferences.php
Then click on *Notification Preferences* and from there you can choose the notifications you want to receive by email or disable them all.

## LIVE SESSIONS

### Q: Do the sessions come with English subtitles?
A: We would like to inform you that our live sessions are conducted via Zoom, where live captions in English are available. Recorded sessions are uploaded to YouTube, where you can also enable captions for your convenience.

### Q: Are the live sessions recorded and how can I have access to them?
A: All live sessions are recorded and shared after 24-48 hours approximately in the Moodle section and in our YouTube Channel:

### Q: What is the medium of communication for the MOOC?

## About the Final Exam

### Q: Why don't I see the Final Exam?
A: Please note that you need to fill in the Post MOOC Survey to take the Final Exam.

### Q: Are there multiple attempts allowed for the quiz?
A: Only one attempt is allowed.

### Q: What is the passing score for the final quiz?
A: The passing grade is 60%

### Q: Can I retake the quiz if I fail?
A: You cannot retake the quiz, but you can enroll to the next semester and take the final quiz at the end of the next MOOC

### Q: I will be traveling during the Final Exam Dates. Can I ask for an extension?9i

A: According to our policy, no extensions can be granted for the MOOCs Final Exam.

### Q: I missed the Final Exam, how can I retake it?
A: You cannot retake the quiz, but you can enroll to the next semester and take the final quiz at the end of the next MOOC

### Q: How do I find my Student ID?
A: You will not need a Student ID for the MOOC Final Exam. This applies only to the MSc students, who take a different, essay based exam and they will have all the information in their own moodle.

## Certification
### Q: Do I get a certificate after completing the MOOC?
A: You will need to take the Final Exam and accomplish a grade over 60% to pass the MOOC and receive a “certificate of accomplishment” verified on the blockchain by the University of Nicosia

### Q: Is the certificate free or paid?
A: The certificate is free

### Q: What information is included on the certificate?
A: The certificate of accomplishment includes your first & last name, the date of issuance and your final grade. Make sure that the information you have entered in Moodle is correct, as well as your contact information (email) so that the certificate can be sent to you.

### Q: I received the certificate, but my name is spelled incorrectly.
A: The certificate reflects the information you provided during registration. Please email [e-mail] to correct your personal details for any future certificates.

### Q: I am not comfortable with sharing my personal information on-chain.
A: Please contact us at [e-mail] to exclude you from issuing your certificate on-chain.You will receive your certificate in pdf form.

### Q: Is the certificate recognized in the blockchain/Web3 industry?
A: The University of Nicosia (UNIC) was the first institution globally to offer a MOOC on blockchain and cryptocurrency, with over 145,000 participants from 120 countries to date. The MOOC also provides significant academic value, offering 10 ECTS credits for students enrolled in the MSc program.

### Q: When do we receive the certificate and how?
A: Our team will validate quiz results, compile the list of eligible students, and create personalized certificates, which will be issued on-chain. This would be done within a couple of weeks after your final exam.

### Q: I have not received my certificate:
A: Please check the email (including spam folder) of the email associated with your Moodle account which you can find by clicking on your profile (top right on Moodle).

### Q: I achieved a top score on the Final Exam.
A: We are delighted to inform you that the top scorers of the Final Quiz will be awarded a 25% MOOC Scholarship, offering a reduction off the total tuition for the MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency - the world’s 1 graduate degree program focused on blockchain technology and crypto.

### Q: How are the top scorers determined?
A: The top scores are determined based on the total high scores, and then the scorers are contacted by the enrollment team.

### Q: I am not a top scorer, can I still take a scholarship?

A: The University of Nicosia strongly believes in expanding accessibility and affordability of higher education. For the 2024 – 2025 academic year, the MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency program and MSc in Metaverse programs have over €300,000 of financial aid available to its students, through a combination of merit or need-based scholarships. ### Q: I completed the MOOC and I am interested in attending the MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency program. I was advised the MOOC is part of the Master’s program. Can I obtain credits?

A: It is only possible if you are an existing student of the MSc program. If you are starting your MSc education now, you will need to re-take the MOOC and complete the Final Exam to obtain 10 ECTS in the Master’s path.

### Q: What is ECTS ?
A: ECTS stands for European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System, a standardized system used across Europe to enable the transfer of academic credits between institutions. The MOOC offers 10 ECTS credits for students enrolled in the MSc program.
Please note that MSc students pursuing the Master’s Degree have a different evaluation structure. If you are unsure or wish to apply for the MSc program, feel free to contact us for more information.
