How is Cypherock X1 different from other hardware wallets?(V2) **Making seed phrases a thing of the past** Traditionally, all of the other hardware wallets require you to store a seed phrase on a piece of paper which is a single point of failure making it extremely risky. Cypherock X1 does not require you to backup your seed phrases anywhere since the Crypto private keys are encrypted in X1's unique 2-of-5 architecture. This leaves X1 with no single point of failure.How does we do that ? Shamir Secret Sharing! * What is Shamir Secret Sharing? Shamir's Secret Sharing (SSS) is used to secure a secret in a distributed way. The secret is split into multiple parts, called shares, which individually should not give any information about the secret. In our case, the secret is the private keys to your wallet. * How does Cypherock integrate Shamir Secret Sharing? **Crypto Inheritance** * What is crypto inheritance? The act of inheriting crypto assets by the nominee selected by the asset owner. There is no way to carry out inheritance of your assets safely and securely with other hardware wallets. Cypherock enables World’s first Inheritance service with your Cypherock X1 wallet that allows you to transfer your Crypto to your nominee without compromising privacy and control. Even we as a company will not be able to access your Crypto. The inheritance service is going to be launched soon **Four in one Hardware Wallet** X1 lets you generate upto 4 unique wallet accounts, each with unique crypto private key set. Therefore, each wallet account act as a separate hardware wallet. X1 allows you to backup any of your existing BIP - 39 supported (Software or hardware) wallet onto your X1. Thereby, making your existing wallets seedless too. - Why not use multi-sig over SSS for removing the single point of failure? multi-sig is considered one of the securest ways but is way too complex to set up for most of the users and is blockchain-dependent. Moreover, every blockchain doesn't support multi-sig. Shamir’s Secret Sharing provides similar security as that of multi-sig for all Cryptocurrencies. What is a seedless wallet? A seedless wallet does not require its owner to back up the seed phrase generated upon initialisation, thereby eliminating a single point of failure problem caused due to seed phrase backups. There are a few cases and features that take care of our users even if the company goes bust: Open source: Cypherock X1 is a fully open-source product that lets developers build on top. So, even if we go bust the software survives for eternity. Offline Computation: Export wallet using seed phrases. Cypherock X1 generates private keys offline. In the case a user wants to export their funds, they may do so by viewing their seed phrase. (If Company goes bust) All the seed phrase computation happens over the X1 wallet and the user can manage and extract the keys to the device at any time and transfer the wallet to some other wallet that they trust. Smartphone App: (If Company Goes bust and you lose your X1 Wallet) The X1 cards are NFC-enabled cards that are readable through NFC-enabled smartphones (both Android & IOS). The communication protocol (APDUs) are already open-sourced through which the user can communicate with the cards directly in case the company cannot provide a new X1 wallet for Crypto asset recovery. Cypherock X1 allows you to store up to 4 wallet accounts per device. Wallet accounts are generated uniquely and are essentially complete unique wallets, each with separate master seed phrases. Each wallet account can store multiple coins. --- 8. Does Cypherock accept Crypto as payment? (Optional) --- 9. Can I back up my existing wallet on Cypherock X1 thereby making my existing wallets seedless too? Cypherock X1 supports up to four wallet accounts. This means you can generate up to 4 unique wallets, each with unique keys. The 4 wallet accounts also can be used as a way to back up the existing seed phrases of your software and hardware wallets. Once the backup is complete, you do not need your paper/metal backups anymore and essentially they can be physically burnt. --- 10. What happens if someone gets access to my X1 wallet/cards? Cypherock X1 has a three-layer security system that prevents any attacker to gain access of funds in case they get access to any of the five components. If attacker gets access to any one of the five components, your funds are safe because none of the individual components have enough information to complete the attack. If attacker gets access to more than one components, complete three layer security measures kick in and the PIN password on the wallet prevent attacker to breach in the security framework. Therefore, it is highly recommended to set up a Wallet PIN. --- 11. Which & how many coins does X1 support right now? --- 12. Can I use Bluetooth to connect my X1 to a computer? No, Cypherock X1 is not Bluetooth-enabled at this time. --- 13. What is the size of the display? 0.96 inches --- 14. What about the warranty period & refund policy? --- 15.Can Cypherock somehow steal the digital assets of the users?(other wallets) It is not possible for Cypherock to steal the digital assets of the users. The device needs to be connected to an internet-connected device just to broadcast transactions. You can use Cypherock X1 without internet access. The private keys need not ever come in contact with an internet-connected device. Moreover, your keys are distributed in four X1 cards which are never upgradeable. Therefore, even a malicious upgrade also does not affect it. ---
