--- tags: "#present" --- # Design Spirnt overview ![](https://i.ibb.co/G5wC2kD/Screen-Shot-2022-06-30-at-2-15-03-PM.png) [The design thinking](https://www.nngroup.com/articles/design-thinking/) ideology asserts that a hands-on, user-centric approach to problem solving can lead to innovation, and innovation can lead to differentiation and a competitive advantage. The whole process is highly interactive and user-focused. As Design Thinking framework, Design Sprints also encourage original thinking through experimentation and iteration but leaner, faster. Prototyping and sketching also reduces the cost of failure. You can try new things, and if they don’t work out, that’s okay. Combined with the user testing at the end of the week, this increases the chances of the final solution proving viable in reality. ![](https://nobsstudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Design-Sprint.jpg) ### 1. Applicable for a product at any maturity stage (i.e. early stage, introduction, product market fit, growth) or most suitable for a specific maturity stage. ![](https://www.uid.com/assets/uploads/inContent/News_CB-Methoden-der-Zukunftsforschung_02_engl_935.jpg) - The Design Sprint focuses a lot on exploration and ideation. - The Discovery Sprint focuses more on prioritisation and mapping features. Consider the maturity level of your solution idea. The purpose of a discovery sprint is to identify root causes, issues, and opportunities, not to solve them in this time window. > **Supermarkets serve as an example:** > In the design sprint, a feature of the future new customer app is developed and tested. In the discovery sprint, the user's shopping experience is scrutinized and a new way of shopping is developed and tested. Futures thinking makes shopping in ten years a tangible experience. ### 2. Regarding the listed role here, are they all required, any optional? ![](https://i.ibb.co/pjZGGjk/Screen-Shot-2022-06-30-at-1-50-02-PM.png) - A decider - Facilitator (Quản trò) - Product Team - UX writers - UX designers - Product Designers - UI/UX designers - UI Designers) Depend on challenge that we want to understand. Evlove optional below: - Marketing expert - Customer service - Design expert - Tech expert - Financial expert ### 3. Regarding the listed role here, all requires full involvement (straight of 5 days) or can on-off? ![](https://i.ibb.co/X5rSFyb/Screen-Shot-2022-06-30-at-2-29-02-PM.png) > Design process not as a mandatory set of acyiond got every project, but rather a reference and a prompt I can use to either do a task or understand why it can be skipped. - Ted Goas ### 4. Real outcomes vs. Expected outcomes - Bring Alignment ("Don't be silos") - Before the product is created (MVP) - Develop new features (Note: Not a Feature factory. Avoid "Feature creep") - Learn and Discover (UX enhancement) - Open opperturnities - Consistent for Growth ### 5. Challenges of applying this working concept - Invite the right people in the room - Whole week time block - Too often the problems faced by the group are too complicated to resolve in a week. - A tendency for the executives to introduce new variables late in the day, undermining the whole process. ### 6. Any lesson-learned if any - Favoring collaboration over debate - Involving stakeholders - Prototyping and experimentation - Always testing with users - Learn fast, fail fast ### 7. A real-world case study is appreciated - Each group will adapt and customize its own. - Commit and contribute development on it. --- **Articles:** - [Design Sprint](https://www.shopify.com/partners/blog/design-sprint) - [What is a design sprint and why is everyone talking about it](https://voltagecontrol.com/blog/what-is-a-design-sprint-and-why-is-everyone-talking-about-it/) - [What is a design sprint and why is it important](https://uxplanet.org/whats-a-design-sprint-and-why-is-it-important-f7b826651e09) - [When to use the design sprint and when not to](https://monstar-lab.com/global/blog/when-to-use-the-design-sprint-and-when-not-to-2/) - [Discovery Sprints what they are and why you should run them](https://uxdesign.cc/discovery-sprints-what-they-are-and-why-you-should-run-them-e0f236794c66) - [An All-Inclusive Figma Template for Your Next Remote Design Sprint](https://spotify.design/article/figma-template-for-your-next-remote-design-sprint) - [Discovery sprint guideline](https://sprint.usds.gov) - [Discovery Sprints: Level Up Enterprise Product Design with UX Part 2](https://medium.com/@dannyvigil/enterprise-products-level-up-product-design-with-ux-part-2-fd7db7b5339f) - [Developing and devising products and services: innovation processes at a glance](https://www.uid.com/en/news/innovation-processes) - [A product Design process fot the real world](https://uxdesign.cc/a-product-design-process-for-the-real-world-44f792f6eb41) - [Design process guideline](https://twitter.com/trisweb/status/1517208481341882378?s=12&t=-L_Oj29CWex-gjTzagbySw)
